Re: PRESALE ON TUESDAY TO LONDON (June 21, 2013)

Had to whizz straight off to the dentist after getting my tickets, so am only just seeing how everyone else did  Doesn't seem like there was a lot of A2 available. My first attempt I was offered 2 x A2 row J which I rejected in the hope of something better - I never learn  Obviously I was...

Re: The Summer 2002 Quiz--> 2012 Quiz

Seeing as Avi nicked my home city (and a likely contender), I will have to go for... Southampton. The south coast needs some Cohen love.

Re: The rhythm of Leonard Cohen

Tremolo is playing a single string repeatedly... You need a pick for tremolo as well. Re: the first sentence. Generally, that is true, although there are exceptions, such as some of the compositions by Heinrich Albert (written in the 1920s) that used 3 string tremolos (and there must be others). Re...

Re: The rhythm of Leonard Cohen

Tremolo is playing a single string repeatedly, more like what Javier Mas does on his instruments, a signature sound of Spanish guitar. This is not what Leonard is doing on songs like The Stranger Song and Avalanche. You need a pick for tremolo as well.

'Last Year's Man' children's choir

I've often wondered about the children used on this track. I remember not long ago there was a documentary on the BBC featuring the children who had sung on Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick in the Wall' and what an experience it was. Now I know that this isn't exactly in the same league, but I just wonde...

Re: The rhythm of Leonard Cohen

He's playing triplets, just very very fast, a la flamenco style. Back when I was better at the guitar I could almost do it. It's hard to imitate the master's 'chop'!

According to my Last.fm profile, it's his debut album. Master Song hypnotised me.
Ah, Roman that is my favourite, very hypnotic! My 'most listened' is probably a toss-up between the two 'Songs of' albums. HIs early guitar songs have a haunting quality all their own.

Re: Where will our 2014 Event be?

Cork would be an interesting choice, and I'd be happy to lend some (remote) organisational assistance.

Re: UPDATED: TOUR MERCHANDISE / EUROPE

Hi Margaret - yes, I did last summer, it was cheap then but even cheaper now! Wow! I can't quite remember how long it took to arrive, a couple of weeks I think, but I was charged $10 for the shipping and I don't think I had to pay any customs duty (unlike when ordering the special edition Old Ideas ...

Carly Rae Jepsen talks about her love of Leonard Cohen

X Factor/American Idol and the like are not usually on my radar, but this interview with Canadian Idol graduate Carly Rae Jepsen caught my eye due to her proclaimed love of Leonard Cohen: Who are your favourite Canadian artists? Dragonette are amazing, and I love Lesley Feist. Leonard Cohen is my fa...

Lol Stamatina, glad I'm not the only one that has problems taking off the 'work hat'. I'm sure 90% of people wouldn't even notice the stuff that bugged me. Maybe me and your mum should work on the next brochure together and come up with something amazing!
