Re: Weybridge

Delighted as I am that Vega is playing, I can't help but bristle at more slightly inaccurate hype. Last week AEG claimed that Weybridge was Leonard's only UK show this year (later qualifying that in the small-print as his only OUTDOOR show), now we have Uncut claiming - presumably based on a press r...

Re: Weybridge

Doubt it will affect LC's set duration at all. Damien Rice only played for half an hour in Dublin, and I expect Ms Vega will be the same. Plus I'm not sure the venue will have an early music curfew anyway - it is effectively on an industrial estate half a mile from the nearest residential area. Also...

Re: Weybridge, July 11 - on general sale

AEG are now marketing the Weybridge gig as "Leonard Cohen's only UK show". See separate thread: http://www.leonardcohenforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=15447 Not sure what the implications of this are for the Liverpool and Belfast gigs. Hopefully the "only UK show" stuff is just an embarrassing error.

"Leonard Cohen's only UK show"?

I'm a bit confused. I received an e-mail earlier today from AEG Live UK (from the address concerts@enews.aeglive.co.uk). The title of the e-mail is "Leonard Cohen's only UK show" and the e-mail consists of a poster-style image advertisining the concert in Weybridge with "Only UK Show" in big letters...

Re: PRE-SALE TO WEYBRIDGE, APR 15

Hi, I posted this in another thread a couple of weeks ago, but it seems worth reposting. I come from Weybridge, and unless things have changed since I moved away, pretty much the only place to meet near Brooklands (on the other side of the railway line but only two minutes from the station) is the H...

Re: Weybridge

I grew up within two miles of Brooklands, and things may have changed since I left (20 years ago!) but this info is hopefully still accurate: Weybridge station is only about 15 minutes walk for those that don't mind strolling. Byfleet & New Haw is similar (nearer as the crow flies, but I seem to rem...

Re: PRE-SALE TO WEYBRIDGE, APR 15

Got an e-mail from Ticketmaster at 10am this morning linking to this pre-sale (with the same fans password in the link etc) so it looks like they've turned 'our' pre-sale into a general pre-sale now - I'm guessing they'll have e-mailed everyone who has previously bought a ticket to a UK Cohen gig. G...

Re: Liverpool and Weybridge - two of John Lennon's home towns

John Lennon indeed lived in St George's Hill, Weybridge (my hometown) for much of the late 60s and 70s. As I recall, three of the Beatles were living there when I was growing up in the 70s (can't remember which one wasn't). St George's Hill has a fascinating history, it was the first place in the co...

Re: $175 per ticket?!?!

175 bucks is pretty much average for a Cohen gig. Some places in Europe were way more than that (eg Prague in Eastern Europe - a poor part of the world - was the equivalent of $275).

Re: New chords/lyrics songbook

Amazon still say it's not out yet, but clearly it is as people are selling - and despatching - it on eBay, and specialist music bookshops online show it In Stock. The Clapton one that came out the same day is purchasable on Amazon, just not the LC one. Which is annoying as it's £3.50 more expensive ...

Re: Boho blues: The battle to save the Chelsea Hotel

I heard about the Chelsea 'changing' about a year ago. They had already started throwing long-term residents out, with their plans to turn it into a 'boutique hotel'. I had to see it before they did, so I made the trip to New York (my first time there) to stay there last July. I would recommend othe...

Albert Hall has been on pre-sale since midday

Can't believe no-one has posted this, but the November 17th & 18th Royal Albert Hall gigs have been on pre-sale at seetickets.com since midday today! Seetickets e-mailed me to tell me at 10am this morning, but only just got the e-mail as have only just got up! (Was awake until 7am watching Boston Re...

Re: Vienna, Sept 24 and 25

See for yourself how much LC enjoyed the public singing along. Thanks for the Youtube links mirka, brought back great memories of Dublin in the rain. Leonard said on two separate occasions that night that he wished he could take that crowd with him to all his other gigs. In a heavily scripted/chore...

Re: Vienna, Sept 24 and 25

I love to sing along at gigs but I am nto sure an LC gig would be the right place to do such a thing. Maybe during a couple of songs but generally, throughout, I want to hear his warm voice and outstanding lyrics rather than other people singing them. I guess it depends on the venue though, general...
