Re: Leonard Cohen Night - BBC4 (UK) - June 19

Anyone know who the guy is who greets Leonard at Hydra as he gets off the Flying Dolphin? Leonard says something to the effect of "strange to meet this man here." I believe it is Axel Jensen! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axel_Jensen The photo of him there looks similar to the guy who greets Leonard...

linda_lakeside wrote:Sorry, I'm not DrHGuy, but I agree with your rock and roll analogy. Also,', do you, rhymes. Do ya, doesn't. I think he's kind of eased his way out of the rock talk, don't ya think?
Do ya rhymes with Hallelujah though

Re: LC interview with Jian Ghomeshi on CBC - aired this morning

Does anyone else think that Cohen unintentionally repeated 'Judy Collins' when he was talking about folk musicians around when he released Songs of Leonard Cohen?

Re: Lullaby

Really, the new album is going to be all synchy like Dear Heather? :( I agree with this review: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2004/oct/22/popandrock.shopping6 'Add that to the seeming disinterest in the music, and more than one voice has wondered if this alternately beguiling and bewildering album...

Re: Did Leonard have any gay experience?

This is from http://www.webheights.net/speakingcohen/sat69.htm 'Leonard decided to deliver his application for a Canada Council grant in person. He was broke, but he borrowed enough money to hire a huge black limousine with uniformed driver. With the glass partition firmly shut, he spent the trip in...

Re: '1,000 best songs about love' - and no Cohen

So Long, Marianne isn't really a song about heartbreak...Leaving Green Sleeves would have been a better option. I think Ain't No Cure For Love should have been included in the songs about love one. I hate The Guardian now, I'm switching to The Daily Mail.

full version of The Broken Lip

http://www.twoshakesofalambstail.com/storeroom/Broken_Lip.mp3 Very funny improvisation from Cohen and I want to put it on YouTube but it cuts off ' Oh it wasn't my sister No I think it was my best friend That's why I liked him He was very little competition In those adolescent kissing games' on rare...

Re: Misheard Lyrics

Until a few days ago, I thought that after 'Destroy another fetus now' in The Future came 'But don't harm children anyhow' instead of 'We don't like children anyhow,' probably because of my pro-choice views. Can't remember any other ones right now.

Randy Newman

Does anyone else here like him? He's probably not as good a songwriter as Leonard Cohen or Jacques Brel, but judging from the few of his songs I've heard he might soon be No. 3 in my favourite songwriters list, in front of Bob Dylan.

Re: Poetic Snippets From Songs

Here's one: "But the skylight is like skin for a drum I'll never mend" I've never really got that one for some reason. He talking about the windows and how they're the only unbroken bits of the ceiling or something? So I'm not completely off topic, here's my contrib.: I loved you in the morning, ou...
