Re: To whom do I write requesting permission to record a Leonard Cohen song?
First port of call should be the management company and then the recording company. They will either hold the rights or be able to direct you to the person who does.

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)
Permission normally is given (or not) by the copyright holder. I would suggest contacting his management company in the first instance as they will almost certainly know who now owns the copyright. If that does not produce a definitive answer try the recording company.

Re: "A new album of original Leonard Cohen songs is in the works"
its4inthemorning "Am hoping that Adam has asked Patrick Leonard to become involved in this project (or more greedily, these projects), Patrick Leonard apparently contributed quite a bit to the great music on LC's final three albums." I know that I am probably in a minority but I sincerely ...

Re: A tribute song, mastered at Abbey Road
Really enjoyable. I also felt it was more Dylan than Cohen and again that is in no way meant to be a criticism. Thank you for posting this on the forum.

Re: BEST COVER VERSIONS OF A LEONARD COHEN SONG OF ALL TIME
Young up and coming Irish superstar David Keenan just did his version of "So Long Marianne" on the Joe.ie show. It's a beautiful piece of work. It's on the Joe.ie facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/manstuff/videos/1624744624226644/ I may be in a minority but I found the vocal embelli...

Re: BEST COVER VERSIONS OF A LEONARD COHEN SONG OF ALL TIME
one of the best amateur renditions I have ever heard, and i would definitely say equal to any professional singer, is this incredible version of Hallelujah. One music expert and author of the video "How to sing hallelujah badly" wrote a comment and simply said, "amazing!" You ha...

Re: New unauthorized CD: LC - The Eternal Classic
Isn't a cover picture of Leonard playing the guitar "left handed" a bit of a give away as to its authenticity, or lack of it?

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away
Given that there appears to be a "right" to post what you wish, and to do so repeatedly; and given that what I considered to be inappropriate and offensive has been edited slightly since yesterday maybe the post of "Unspoken Words" should also be repeated, as "surrender"...

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away
Well said Dannycarey! It could be added that when criticising someone for not answering in a "full sentence" then attention should be paid to one's own contribution and ensure that a sentence does not begin with "and" - "And when were you 20 or 21?" In any case, what yo...

(Optional final verse) Your timing it was perfect When your heart it ceased to pump At least you will not have to bear Four years of fucking Trump. ...
