Re: EVENT RESCHEDULED TO 2022

well, that's all right, i'll just have more time to get used to being retired, and perhaps lend a hand here and there, if practical help is needed. One can only hope that the bank will not charge "negative interest" on your account, as organising things is not going to get less expensive.

Re: New 1970-1971 recordings available on Apple Music

the receiving and sending of those recordings was probably as important as the recordings themselves, to me : i have even kept the envelopes, with "exotic"stamps from "all over the world", because the sender of one more live concert recording was a real person, who had taken the time to write my add...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Auckland, New Zealand – December 21, 2013

Today is 21 December 2020. Here downunder, tonight is the 7th anniversary of this Auckland 2013 concert. As we know it was the very last ever concert for Leonard and today I inexplicably felt the need to commemorate it. I was offered a front row seat to this concert by a kind and thoughtful Canadia...

Re: New 1970-1971 recordings available on Apple Music

thanks to everyone on this forum, not only for the help with these recordings, but for your kindness in all the years i've been strolling around here. Especially thanks to you, Maarten, for your support, your help and for what you're doing for all of us. I hope i can one day "pay you back" for all y...

Re: New 1970-1971 recordings available on Apple Music

i can't download anything from these recordings, here, in belgium. Could anyone, anywhere else, buy the whole collection of these albums for me? '69 was my first Leonard Cohen year, so the sound of these years is very special to me. Thank you very much in advance.

Re: Graphic novel about Leonard

pre-order possible, 20€, Fnac France.
not the largest book, 19x26cm, but it looks nice enough to go for it
your local bookshop will probably find it for you, too, so perhaps it's better to go find it there, and support the smaller stores

Re: never-ending gallery

I've never been able to enjoy drinking wine from a box. It seems to take all the fun out of the experience: I absolutely love the activity of removing the cork and that wonderful "pop" sound it makes. It is even somewhat enjoyable to remove a screw-top (if that's what there is), which makes a satis...

Re: BEST COVER VERSIONS OF A LEONARD COHEN SONG OF ALL TIME

another BIG italian to me, is Roberto Vecchioni https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-WbRC4wS-4 This is his "version", but calling it a cover is not giving him enough credit : he is far too good, both as musician, singer, writer of beautiful songs this is his way of treating a great song : 'È soltanto u...

Re: BEST COVER VERSIONS OF A LEONARD COHEN SONG OF ALL TIME

i think that Fabrizio De André was an important person in the LC history in Italy, as he translated and performed LC songs, before they were known in the original versions by LC. I absolutely adore his voice, and the kindness one feels when listening (or watching to) him. His translations were sung ...

Re: Raffi Hakopian

I was watching an "old" (1992) flemish short movie called "artikel 140" on tv, about half an hour ago and was very surprised to hear a short piece of violin, that i immediately recognized as the violin from "the guests". I do not know if this is registered somewhere, as a contribution from LC to mus...

Re: Montreal Leonard Cohen Memorial Commemorative Box Set

2020 or 2021, what's the difference ; not even meant to unseal, this set was only an (expensive) addition to all the good memories, just to be kept as a gift to whoever inherits it, after i'm gone. Videos by Albert Noonan, photos from Maarten, meeting people from this forum and other, my own tickets...

Re: Montreal Leonard Cohen Memorial Commemorative Box Set

One hour after the announcement, i had ordered the box. I could not resist. Could i afford it? Perhaps not really ; if you're just retired from work, you should not spend such money, i guess. But i won't need money when i'm dead, so all that's spent now, is well-spent. Tickets for LC concerts did no...

Re: NOW THE COUNTDOWN: Waiting For The News To Come

Does anybody know what time that will be in New Zealand? I'm hopeless with time zones. It's now Friday morning at 11.07am here! Midnight in L.A. is nine in the morning here in belgium ; now it's 1.28 after midnight here, and 11.28 , just before noon at your place, so you're 10hrs later than we are ...

Re: Waiting For The News To Come

i had not been around here for a while, so it's nice to see so many of the "old" members getting excited again, without really knowing what is going to happen, what kind of flower is giving food to the bird, before the first of august
