Influences on Leonard Cohen: I'm Going Home (Hymn) and O Captain My Captain (Walt Whitman)

Good afternoon, I have realized there are two poems that may have had an influence on Leonard Cohen poetry (surely there were hundreds or thousands more, but just to signal two of them). A few days ago I was reading Walt Whitman's "O captain my captain" and I found these verses (the final ...

Progressive house song mixed with Leonard Cohen's voice

Good night, I have made a remix of a progressive house song mixed with Leonard Cohen's voice. That's called a "Mash-Up". A Mash-Up is a mix of two songs. The two songs mixed are: Xanadu, by Dutch DJ of Turkish origin Ummet Ozcan, born in 1982, and: You want it darker, by Leonard Cohen. Of ...

Re: Some resources on “The Night of Santiago”

Federico García Lorca's poem, La Casada Infiel, (The Unfaithfull Married) talks about his supposed meeting with a married girl (that he didn't know) in one part of the poem, Lorca says a resounding expression, “Fue la noche de Santiago y casi por compromiso” (“It was the night of Santiago and almost...

Fake Hallelujah sung by Elvis Presley!

Be aware: there is a Fake Hallelujah sung by Elvis Presley in Youtube. I have just seen it. The date is "five years ago". (It shocks me not having noticed, giving the time lapse). It's a very well done montage, probably with an audio program, with a program that converts text to audio (voi...

Re: Looking for an axplanation for "Seems so long ago Nancy

Gary Rob: "If she committed suicide, how are many men seeing her everywhere and coldly using her body for sex?" I think this is kind of a flashback, where after Nancy's death you [we?] (And now you look around you/See her everywhere) you remember her, and you remember when she was alive. B...

Re: Remembering Leonard

Excuse me for writing again in Spanish, but the song of Jimmy Webb remembers me of another song in Spanish! Si se calla el cantor calla la vida Porque la vida, la vida misma es todo un canto Si se calla el cantor, muere de espanto La esperanza, la luz y la alegría Si se calla el cantor se quedan sol...

Re: Remembering Leonard

Federico García Lorca wrote a poem called "La Guitarra" (The Guitar): LA GUITARRA - POEMA DE LA SEGUIRIYA GITANA (Cante Jondo) Empieza el llanto de la guitarra. Se rompen las copas de la madrugada. Empieza el llanto de la guitarra. Es inútil callarla. Es imposible callarla. Llora monótona ...

Re: Song Meanings

I always wondered what was the meaning of "The Old Revolution". I thought it was a reference to Vietnam War. After reading your message, I wonder if what you say about "A Bunch Of Lonesome Heroes" can apply to "The Old Revolution".
