Re: never-ending gallery

You're welcome, Lisa. I'm glad you liked the lyrics.
In a similar vein, although in another thread, I had "a spade", too.

But I'm afraid "this bizarre corner" is a bit too bizarre for me to fend in...

Re: Leonard Cohen's statue will be unveiled in Vilnius

The only problem I can see with calling a spade a spade is, how to ascertain whether it is a spade or not. And for this problem I have no solution. ● As so often, I wrote something and then decided rather not to post it. This time I changed my mind in what concerns the following: > The more I look a...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Hm, the vinyls of old used to have two sides. Maybe there will be one part songs (or poetry with music) and one part music only. And maybe it's something totally different… BTW Jean, could you enlighten me on the "Flower Sermon," I am not familiar with it. Well, I might try to give a few indications...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

4, I'm very much with you. (Concerning "My Oh My", I beg to differ. I can't help linking this song to the Flower Sermon.) Somewhere, as my memory has it, Leonard Cohen said something to the effect that the rest (to come) was music, or mostly. Which would be coherent, even though one should never tru...

Re: "Hallelujah" cover

Nora sings in different languages, and to my ear her careful diction sounds extremely good. She's not aping some rote-learned stuff without understanding it. Still influenced by several hundred hours spent with Federico García Lorca, I'm all the more deeply touched by her meaningful "I remember when...

Update — Letter to Granny Lilith 1) The second link in my letter to Granny Lilith has become inconclusive. 2) Until 13th August 2019, the following link leads to an update in replay on Arte, a Franco-German cultural TV channel (unfortunately not in English — only in German, in French, in French wit...

Agreed, 4.

And then Yin and Yang are inseparable, aren't they as it happens, the contrary applies to the phrase "Many happy returns!"

Many happy returns, Bev!

Re: Lorca's Poet in New York

Many thanks once again for your appreciation, Bev! And do ask me — hoping I can help… Previously I had skipped this: While looking through that most bloody of poems, The King of Harlem, this line caught my eye, “there must be some way out of here” – it’s the same line from a Bob Dylan song, All Alon...

Re: Lorca's Poet in New York

Thank you for your kind appreciation, both of you! Bev, your link to "Little Ashes" helped me very much to better connect to Federico García Lorca. Here a link to the same film, but with Spanish subtitles instead of Turkish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBBpbHXnEvw And yes, those 5 $ were a good ...
