The flame is alive more than ever now, and will be kept alive by our passion, which keeps living beyond the mortal facts. So long Leonard, thanks for the beauty.

Re: Listen to "Almost Like The Blues"
my attempt: maybe it is a parallel theme to the one developed in Going Home, the "invitation" is his feeling to be close to the end, thus getting free of the burden, the costume, the sorrow....might this be the aim of depressed people? Also, I've trying to decipher the lyrics all day. Especially the...

Re: Listen to "Almost Like The Blues"
Thanks a lot, Jarkko, I'll never stop learning on this Forum! And what about "though" in place of "so"? Furthermore, I understand "The Blues" is depression: in your opinion does he mention the individual one he experienced or a sort of "cosmic" depression in nowadays' scenario? G-d is the way to wri...

Re: Listen to "Almost Like The Blues"
May I ask an obvious question? I definitely hear "There is no God in Heaven" does G-d symbolize something else? on another line, I neatly hear "Though I let my heart get frozen"... is it all due to my italian ears perhaps? Leonard's diction was never clearer than this... Thanks everyone for h...

Re: Simple Kindness
I’d like to add my personal interpretation to the skilful ones that I see in this Forum: My thought is that Leonard is talking to himself (as in Going Home, as well as in Different Sides) after the meditation period. After the storm (flood) of his inner conflicts, he succeeded in crossing the lines ...

Re: Happy Birthday Leonard!!
One year ago I was counting down for Verona Concert...today I'm celebrating two anniversaries, with a vivid memory of that Concert and great expectations on Leonard's masterpieces still to come. Mind your promise Leonard, keep on going forever!!!

Re: "Elaboration of a tube" line in "Going Home"?
Here, for comparison, there is another "tube" meeting with his "elaboration". Written by an atheist. (Please ignore with a benevolent smile the awkwardness of my attempt at translating – English is not my mother-tongue, and I haven't had all that much practice over these last two decades and a half...

Re: Jennifer Warnes' Famous Blue Raincoat - I have a questio
Hi everybody, here I am again wondering on some lyrics! Now it’s the turn of Famous Blue Raincoat’s cover, magnificently sung by Jennifer Warnes. My doubt is about the line “you’d been to the station to meet every train” which in the original goes on with “and you came home without Lili Marlene”: t...

Re: The Holy Or The Broken
The more I listen to Jeff Buckley's version, the less I like it. I do agree. Buckley's version is actually moving, nevertheless it gives the impression of someone crying. Cohen's interpretation is instead majestic. That's the only word I found to define it,

Re: "Elaboration of a tube" line in "Going Home"?
Most likely he alternates saying both "tube" or "tune" to give us a chance to debate on it :D ;-) couldn't it be? IMO each one of his performances is unique and unrepeatable.... so we are all right and we are all wrong, and he only knows what he meant each time..... in Verona we heard tube as far as...

Re: "elaboration of a tube" - any interpretation suggestions
I stumbled across this while looking for songs for my violin practice. It's a quote by Leonard when he was interviewed in the earlier years. It seems to relate to what is being said: http://www.leonardcohenforum.com/download/file.php?id=13880&t=1 MaireJolie, In case you haven't seen it, I th...

Re: "Elaboration of a tube" line in "Going Home"?
Hi Cohenites of the Forum, as you can see from the posts I am a very new entry…. Have been often visiting this Forum since one year, when I started translating Cohen’s lyrics for an Italian amateur site, which has the ambition to make them available, as a cultural fact, to as many people as possible...
