Re: Alberto Manzano - Leonard Cohen's words, poems and memor

I think more than a formal interview, this was a few days living together. You can find more photos by Manzano in Hydra, Christmas 1980, in the DVD/CD covers “Acordes con Leonard Cohen” and more than are emerging in new books. See the cover of book “Leonard Cohen Lorca, flamenco y el judío errante”...

Re: Alberto Manzano - Leonard Cohen's words, poems and memor

Wonderful :D !!! It turns out there was no 1980 interview -- the book is a collection of other interviews, from various sources, translated into Spanish by Alberto Manzano. I'm working through it because my Spanish is pretty limited. However there are a number of photos of Leonard on Hydra, two wit...

I managed to acquire a copy from the author. It's a very interesting collection of material, and the photographs are quite haunting.

Re: Concert review: Forest Hills, New York 25 July 1970

More to the point: Recent Songs appeared in 1973, well after Erlich's review. But she sums up what many people felt about him back home in Canada. In the US, very few people had even heard of him. Maybe his Montreal audience failed to understand him, but then, all we had to go on in 1970 were severa...

Re: Concert review: Forest Hills, New York 25 July 1970

Lots of people fail to understand him even now (: Not surprising, since it's a long and complicated history that includes the Rothschilds, MI6, Rosicrucians, 17th century False Messiahs, the MKULTRA program, Operation Paperclip, COINTELPRO and counter-revolutionary movements, the anti-Castro Mafia, ...

Re: Concert review: Forest Hills, New York 25 July 1970

Are we forgetting that one of Cohen's early albums featured a suicide note from a woman on its back cover? The implication beingshe had killed herself for him, which was bad enough, but why was he was advertizing it? To honour her noble gesture, enhance his image, attract more suicidal women into hi...

Re: Why the Classics

So really, it comes down to "All You Need is Love." I'm sure Leonard would agree with that by now.

"It is good to have among us such men, such balancing monsters of love."

Re: Why the Classics

Hmm i think you constantly miss the point of Herbert's poem. It's not about love or broken hearts but taking responsibility and learning to live with the terrible outcome of one's own mistakes. And yes, it came.from the horse 's mouth a long time ago. Now we're in the last stanza "when wallpape...

Re: Adam Cohen in Hyde Park July 13

:? Rather disappointing, as there was a no show from Adam Cohen and no one we asked knew why he was not there. I looked at the agenda for all stages and his name was not on any of them. I tried to look on the net but no news thus far on the web. Maybe he was ill? Sorry to hear he missed all the fun.

Re: Why the Classics

The Illuminati do not interest me. Dr. Cameron is the star of that video, and he was very real. You should know. You live in the city where he electroshocked 10,000 people/year. There is no escaping our histories.

Re: URGENT: LONDON AND LEEDS RE-SCHEDULED

mickjaggerscat - may i ask you to nail the date of the show you missed out on in Athens June 88 because of the thunderstorm/weather problems you mention. was it the 19th? or 20th? i'm just trying to ensure my tour dates/venues lists are kept up-to-date. thanks. After all these years it's a bit hazy...
