Re: Manchester, UK (June 17-20)
Tuesday and Thursday Audience Review I enjoyed every single song. This was marred by: on Tuesday the man sitting next to me driving me up the wall by clapping through the first few bars of each song, and leaping up and yelling ‘yes’ at the end of every number. Yes yes I am a committed miserablist wh...

Re: Misheard Lyrics
I can't remember any mis-heard lyrics now (I posted on this thread a good few years ago!)
Somehow the expressions were too strange/unexpected to be made out at all.
This is definitely true. Often the lyrics seem paradoxical. Even 'your invincible defeat' from 1000 kisses is just...weird.

Re: Front Row on BBC RADIO 4 - Monday 26 May
Too much Lawson, not enough Cohen I completely agree. I listened to it with my knitting and my poached eggs, and it was great, though I'm sure it was a repeat. Then again, almost everything ever on radio 4 is a repeat. They have been repeating an afternoon play about a Welsh harpist for over ten ye...

Medal for Gingermop, and special mention for bravery for entering into dodgy-looking brown envelope exchange with complete stranger at her place of work.

Re: Leonard Cohen positions on zionism/Israel
Leonard's political positions as a committed singer. 'Politically committed artist' is a valid conceptual category, but it is a specifc one which artists of various types usually choose for themselves, because they want their works to be interpreted in a Marxist/socialist/feminist/whatever way. I d...

Re: What Other Artists Have You Seen Live (since 2000)?
I have been to quite a fair few gigs since 2000. The last one I went to was Erasure in Manchester, where I got punched across the room. Who ever would have imagined Erasure fans as moshers and violent thugs?? Especially with so many butterflies and ladybirds on stage.

Someone on here has been brilliantly kind enough to secure me one, yesHi Rachel,
I do hope you've got a ticket for at least one of the shows. If not, then live in hope...

I didn't try for the Guardian in the end - it's just so incredibly disheartening when it doesn't work.

Re: Dublin, June 14-15 and now also 13!!!
How do you put that tiny little pic beside your name, even if i reduce a pic to the smallest size..... still does not upload hmmmmmm! Tinderella, My initial approach to this problem was to enlarge/reduce over and over again in the hope that the loss of quality would make the picture take up less me...

Re: WOE AARGH
Hello Byron :D No it isn't rubbish - I've certainly done that on ticketmaster before - they even have the details of my debit card stored on their system. Who knows - perhaps it didn't work because I was transferred from my 'home' account (UK) to another site (IE)? Anyway never mind I'm sure everyth...

Re: WOE AARGH
Thanks Shikimo - I'll definitely bear Lyon in mind. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRHHHHH I went to the Irish ticketmaster site at 9 this morning, got straight in and was offered a seat in row A but it would only accept a credit card booking and I cancelled my credit card as a safety measure after using dodgy tout c...

Re: Leonard Cohen
Yes I think so. 'Up to good' isn't a concept, after all. Although no, probably not up at all: that's more likely.

Isn't it? I thought so! It made me wonder what Leonard Cohen was up to all day. I'm still wondering actually.

Re: Leonard Cohen
I haven't managed to purchase a ticket for the Leonard Cohen tour yet. Your prices seem reasonable and certainly fall well within the range of what I would quite happily pay to see someone singing Hallelujah. I am concerned by your mention of caprice and arbit, however, and unable to provide "T...
