Re: Open Mic - Budapest 2018

Also, the Open Mic session itself will be held between 16.00 and no later than 18.00 (but preferably finishing before then, to allow time before the evening program). 8)

Cheers,
Andrew :)

Re: Open Mic - Budapest 2018

Dear performers, Just so as you know in advance, we will be having our 'sound check' at 11.30 on Saturday, at the main venue, the Budapest Jazz Club. This is scheduled before the boat cruise at 13.00, but might encroach upon earlier walking tours. Just let me know if you can't be there for this, eit...

Jazzy Hallelujah on keyboard

This cover version of Hallelujah has a jazzy keyboard arrangement. 8) It is performed by a work colleague and friend of mine, Shannon Green. When I first heard it, just last night, I was suitably impressed and felt it deserved to be aired here on the Forum: https://youtu.be/JDsT_SWhm48 Enjoy! Cheers...

Re: Open Mic - Budapest 2018

Hi there friends in celebration, This is just a gentle reminder that our Budapest event is just over 7 weeks away, but at this point we only have four performers who've put their hand up for Open Mic. Don't be shy, demonstrate your talent in this friendly non-judgmental environment, one that appreci...

Re: Arthur Moore has passed away

This is such sad news for me, as I’ve known Arthur for well over 20 years. We met way back in the 1990’s when I was running the Leonard Cohen birthday celebration nights in Toowoomba, as he would drive up from Brisbane, with Bernadette, to attend some of these annual events. The three of us also enj...

Breitz’s tribute in Melbourne too

As featured at Montreal’s Museum of Contemporary Art as one of the various tribute events to honour Leonard last November, Candice Breitz’s audio-visual tribute to Leonard is now also being exhibited at the Anna Schwartz Gallery in Melbourne, up until March 3rd. 8) Here’s the link relating to this: ...

Re: Sept 21st Melbourne gathering

Although there were not many of us present at this gathering last night, we had an enjoyable and meaningful time together nevertheless. :D We started out at The Duke of Wellington hotel where we had a satisfying reasonably priced meal, during the course of which we duly acknowledged Leonard with a t...

Re: Sept 21st Melbourne gathering

There are still only four of us able and committed to meeting up in Melbourne on the evening of September 21st... however, it's not too late, if there are any other takers within striking distance of Melbourne. ;-) Anyway, after consultations, I've now made a reservation at the Duke of Wellington Ho...

Re: Sept 21st Melbourne gathering

Hi again, time flies, so it's time to provide an update on our proposed gathering. ;-) Unfortunately, so far only one other Melburnian had indicated they will be free to participate in this restaurant meet-up on the 21st September. Nevertheless, I've started looking at restaurants, though ...

Re: Mikelangelo’s ‘Cave, Waits & Cohen’ UK shows

Incidentally, I saw Mikelangelo perform a ‘By Request’ show at one of my local venues last Sunday night and he told me there were more requests for his Cohen covers than for any other artist or song (including his own). 8) On this occasion he performed 'Tower of Song’, ‘Famous Blue Raincoat’ and ‘Da...

Mikelangelo’s ‘Cave, Waits & Cohen’ UK shows

Mikelangelo, an Australian performer who has been referred to previously in another thread here, is about to embark on the UK premiere of his ‘Cave, Waits & Cohen’ tribute show. :D He’ll perform the show in Brighton this Friday, July 28th, then at the Edinburgh Festival from Wednesday 2nd until Mond...

Re: Anyone in Melbourne?

Hi again, Melbourne based Cohen friends, Alan M (Adelaide) is visiting Melbourne with his wife Karin for a few days from September 21st and so we have decided we would like to meet up with whoever else is able to join us for an evening restaurant meal on that day they arrive here, it fortuitously be...

Sept 21st Melbourne gathering

Hi there, Melbourne based Cohenites, just to let you know Alan M informed me some while ago that he and his wife Karin will be in Melbourne for some days from September 21st and we have therefore now decided to meet up on that day, it of course being the date of Leonard’s birthday anniversary. 8) We...
