Re: Leonard Cohen, Untold Stories: The Early Years
Thanks for this straight-to-the-point review, Eva. I think I'll avoid this (as last few as well.) "Oral history" is, after all, polite name for gossiping so we should knew that. I have just finished reading this trashy book on Kindle (very happy I didn’t waste more money on the Hardcopy!) A compilat...

Re: A poet in Amsterdam
I presume it is just one of many new unauthorised bootlegs - both Amsterdam 1980 and 1988 were recorded from soundboard or FM (I forget which one which) and were shared among fans here on this Forum on CDRs and later as digital files. All those new unauthorised live recordings are actually taken off...

Re: New 1970-1971 recordings available on Apple Music
Listening right now to the superb recording of the Royal Albert Hall 1970 concert. I never heard the 1970 tour in this quality before.
Whenever Apple Music removes it, it is secure now in my hard disc as well
Thanks to all involved and to Maarten, the good spirit of this place.

Re: Dick Straub has passed away
I only now see this sad news. What to say. For me, Dick was one of the original founders of this community. I will always remember our days in Berlin in 2006 (at the museum visit, nights at Strasseman etc.). My deep condolences to Linda

Thank you very much, Cedar.
CD "Gipsy Fever with Eva" was actually circulating (burned and copied) among Cohen fans here on the forum 15-20 years back (yes, it's a long time).

Re: Death of A Ladies Man Live
The title song itself no, but part of the album yes. He regularly performed Memories live in 1979-80 shows and also in 1985 shows. Couple of times in 1979 he performed Iodine - both being way more superb than on the album. Iodine in Paris 1979: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h0Vfugircw Memories ar...

Re: A Source for Tacoma Trailer?
Wherever did Leonard get the musical inspiration for Tacoma Trailer, the instrumental cut on The Future? The Jazz Police have discovered a clue. It may be stolen from a 1968 piece by Yusef Lateef Listen to this beautiful piece, especially 5:59 onward. Sound familiar? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Polly Samson's novel about Hydra in the 60s (and David Gilmour's perfoming Cohen songs)
As it was already mentioned elsewhere in this forum, David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd) has been covering early Leonard's songs in online promotion of Polly Samson's new novel about Hydra in the 1960s, in which Leonard also appears as one of the characters. Novel's title is A THEATRE FOR DREAMERS (Blooms...

The Woman Being Born - which was actually then retitled to My Life in Art (and, at one point, to End of My Life in Art), and then reworked as Death of a Lady's Man and published in 1978. Linda Hutcheon, famous academic, included Death of a Lady's Man in her book about Leonard's prose, not poems (she...
