Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

B4, I am astounded that you found a quote from Leonard himself on the subject. What sort or Cohen library do you maintain to be able to do that so quickly? Unfortunately, after hearing what he said, I am still puzzled about the reason for the change in the sung "you." (Sounds like something on an As...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

B4, re "ya" vs "you" in Hallelujah, I erred by commenting about Leonard changing the word "you" when what I meant was him changing the way he pronounced it. On the original album the "yous" are pronounced to rhyme with "Hallelujah," that is what changed at some point. I especially liked the colloqui...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Live in Dublin Redux We decided to view Live in Dublin a few evenings ago. I read my original review beforehand and gave it to Joann to read. When she did, her first comment was, "you didn't send this yet, did you, I found some errors?" (Joann used to work as a copy editor, so fortunately her errors...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

There are many deep and ponderous questions we all have about Leonard--about his thinking, his life, and his body of work--that cannot now, nor could ever have been, adequately answered. I accept that, but what will always drive me crazy are answers to these two simple queries: Why did he change the...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Bev: I definitely recall your old avitar, and immediately connected it to your recent picture at the Oz concert. We've all changed over the years, but it's always nice to know we bear some resemblance to our younger days! Group: Our annual ritual of watching a concert DVD at the end of December was ...

Re: CBC Radio 2 to Broadcast Tribute Concert on Nov 7

Does anybody know if a DVD of the Memorial Event concert will be made available for purchase? Would have thought it would have been released last year. Thanks for any info.

Re: Origins of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb

B4, I just viewed the 1-hour video on the story behind "Wish You Were Here," maybe that's what you referred to when you said you know that story. It was extremely well done. At the end Roger Waters, referring to the song WYWH, says something that paraphrases comments we all made on "Along the Way" w...

Origins of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb

One of my favorite songs has always been "Comfortably Numb." While wasting time--no strike that--while doing "research" on the internet, I came across a page that discusses how this song evolved and includes earlier versions including the first one. Here is the link: http://www.openculture.com/2018/...

Re: never-ending gallery

Geoffrey, your efforts are indeed appreciated. Could you possibly harness the new idea of creating a drawing with a connection to "Avalanche"?

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

A few nights ago I had occasion to eat dinner at a small neighborhood bar, one of those very plain establishments where the blue-collar crowd would grab a few beers after work. A jukebox was playing, mostly 1980s-1990s rock. Just as we were finishing up, one of my friends said, "isn't that the guy y...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

B4, As that last concert was in NZ, I assume you were not in attendance. What was your final concert in 2013, and now, five years later, what memories of that night are still vivid? Since Leonard appeared to be in good health and thoroughly enjoying performing, I felt (perhaps hoped is a better word...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Jean, we observe a ritual where, each year at the end of December we watch some of our LC concert DVDs. This is in commemoration of our reintroduction to Leonard, after more than two decades of being MIA, through the serendipitous viewing of "Live in London" on our local PBS station in December 2009...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Dear friends on "Along the Way," I wish you all the very best at this special time of the year. Our coming together on this forum has provided me with much enjoyment, I view this as yet another gift bestowed by Leonard. Looking forward to 2019 and the opportunity to meet some of you in Hydra or Prov...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Bev and Jean, you're not giving the responses I was hoping for...but it is still early, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Bev, I read in the poetry section that you have been reticent about reading The Flame. Same here, I paged through it very briefly, but then set it aside, putting off the inevit...
