Re: Whats your favourite Leonard Cohen's song?

Who By Fire is probably my all-time favourite. The feeling of the song, the melody (this one especially), the performance, the lyrics.. PERFECT!

And I'm so happy that Leonard's been doing the song this tour, since I'm going to the Helsinki show :)

Re: Name songs you would like to hear Leonard cover.

I could almost swear that I'd just answered this question.. but apparently not :D After hearing Johnny Cash's versions of the Neil Young songs Pocahontas and Heart of Gold, I'd like to hear Leonard do a Neil song. One of the acoustic ones, of course. One might think that a low-voiced singer singing ...

Re: Time for Another Leonard Radio Special !

Too bad that I'm living on such a different timezone! This program will be re-broadcast on Wednesday MORNING, August 4th from midnight to 3 am ET. I believe that should be more compatible with your time zone. Is that 7 am to 10 am in Finland? I highly recommend this LC program. I heard the first on...

The video screens

It seems that the bigger venues Leonard and the band have been to have had the video screens and that the smaller haven't. I'm going to the Helsinki concert (at the Hartwall arena) with my mother and I was wondering if it will have the screens. My mother doesn't have very good eyesight and we don't ...

Thank you, Lizzy!

Yes, I'm going with Mum. Apart from the experience of seeing Leonard and the band live, it will also be a really memorable night together with my mother.

And thanks to everybody for the warmest welcome I've ever had to a forum!

Re: Time for Another Leonard Radio Special !

Too bad that I'm living on such a different timezone! Though I did just tune in and heard "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey". Is it a Pete Seeger song? What's the songs name?

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

I just discovered this thread, so I'm gonna copy most of an earlier message I posted elsewhere. I'm a 17-year-old Finnish-Canadian Leonard Cohen fan. I found this site and forum while looking for info about the 2010 tour. It's really mind-boggling how many other Cohen fans are out there and how many...

Re: Late Discovers of Mr. Cohen

First of all, I'm 17, so I probably discovered Leonard at a younger age than most of you. But with Leonard starting his sixth decade in the music business and his seventh as a poet/author, one could say that I've discovered him quite late :D And it's also just sort of fun to reminisce getting into L...

Re: Leonard Cohen Talks About First New Album of the Decade

The Darkness has a slightly chilling effect on me and I hope that the final version will be somewhat different. I bet that the instrumentation at least will be. Feels So Good comes across as just a good song, sounding nice and all, but nothing really special. But Born In Chains really sounds amazing...

Re: How To Speak Poetry

This one was a new piece of Leonard's work for me. At first I thought that you, carm, were quite a writer and yet I somehow recognized someone else's writing style pretty soon.. I found a recording of Leonard reciting this. It just opens up a hole somewhere in the back of my head and lets thoughts f...

Re: Bob Dylan in Limerick

I find it really weird that even though Dylan's performing has been pretty awful since the early 90's (from what I've heard), he still manages to do pretty good singing on his albums. Either he always loses his voice during tours or just doesn't give a fuck about perfoming, or then he just does mill...

Re: tom jones - praise and blame

It got a killer review in the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. I haven't heard any of the songs yet, but after standing comparison to John Cash's American Recordings, I've got to listen to some of the songs. Apparently the album's hitting the highest spots of the American charts too.

Re: Music You're Listening To

It seems like I'm not the only Neil Young / Leonard Cohen fan. Right now I'm listening to Neil's Live At Massey Hall from 1971. Ever since I heard Johnny Cash do Pocahontas and Heart Of Gold, I've been wondering what Neil's songs sung by Leonard would sound like :D
