Leonard #10
On a Belgian radio station the listeners could choose the 'Strafste' stem (sorry don't know how to translate that...), meaning the most beautiful, outstanding or remarkable voice. Our man ended in tenth position.. The full top 50: 1 - Elvis Presley 2 - Freddie Mercury (Queen) 3 - Tom Waits 4 - Jacqu...

Martha Wainwright
Greetings, it's my first time posting in this section as I have been listening to ONLY Leonard since May, literally, and was waiting until I would get the sign to take a break and move on for a bit. I've been discovering Martha Wainwright lately. Listening to first two albums non-stop! In her own ve...

Re: Sleeping with Leonard
And in this, as in a lot of things, I mentally recall a line from a Cohen song which matches my situation. So walking my dog this morning, as usual with my headphones and Leonard, this song came on and caused me to recall this delectable thread: Because of a few songs Wherein I spoke of their myste...

Re: Sleeping with Leonard
This was my first dream of him and he was young. He can come to my dreams at any age, at any time, any night. He will always be welcomed.

Re: Sleeping with Leonard
Oh, that picture...that is the most sensual photograph of a man I"ve ever seen  :!: What does he not have going for him????? I dreamed of Leonard two nights ago and cannot stop thinking about it. It was so clear and vivid, he was next to me, we weren't anywhere in particular, and he was kind o...

Re: "Ten New Songs" One of the Decade's Best
Raindog, I listened to "How To Disappear Completely", headphones on, and I really like his voice, it's very beautiful and melodic. The song flowed nicely but somehow I found it depressing, it brought me down. Maybe it's just not my style and I retract any negative comments I may have made due to the...

Re: "Ten New Songs" One of the Decade's Best
Thank you Mirka for that explanation. That's really, really beautiful, that need to come together through the words of this man. Very interesting to learn some early facts about this forum and how it all began.

Re: Your Favorite Leonard Cohen Line
Had to add: You who wish to conquer pain, you must learn what makes me kind; the crumbs of love that you offer me, they're the crumbs I've left behind. Your pain is no credential here, it's just the shadow, shadow of my wound. these lines just, ooooffff, straight through the gut and out the other side

Re: "Ten New Songs" One of the Decade's Best
Mirka, well said!!! But it seems like we are on own tundra sometimes. Making this list is fantastic...but 100th?????? I had to listen to the #1 album and couldn't make it past the second song, barely made it through the 1st. Had to recall a certain quote from Marx about the masses.

Re: LC artworks exhibition in Montreal in february 2010
Thank you for posting the link. It's so shocking for me to read that you were the only one at the gallery as I think that wouldn't EVERYBODY flock to see anything by LC???? I don't think that will be the case in Montreal. I sure did enjoy seeing his art on that website and I'm looking forward to wha...

Re: 2 Songs
Well it seems it'll be a while before he's strumming some Leonard for me, he's just now learning the chords. I guess I thought he would come home and just play the songs ( rather I fantasized he would ), so now I'll be patient as a bird on a wire and calmly await my serenade. I was discouraged to le...
