Re: Review of Jewish Museum Show A Crack in Everything

We returned last night from our trip to NYC to see the exhibit (with a side trip to Washington D.C.). I can only speak for myself but the trip was worth it in so many ways. The videos were the highlights for me-the first one with screens on three sides of the room is probably the best summation of a...

Anne & I along with my sister Jane saw Tom in Scottsdale, Arizona playing outdoors with Camelback Mountain in the background. It was a great concert. I'm anxious to get his new album.

That is great! It even shows Leonard's old Nissan Pathfinder.

Re: The Flame-discussion thread

I'm just catching up as I've been traveling for over a month. B4real and Mat, really enjoyed your comments (as I always do). It's been a while since I've looked through The Flame and I will again and make a few comments of my own. Brucester, I was a huge Kingston Trio fan growing up and in many ways...

Re: The Flame-discussion thread

It’s interesting you mention Yeats and Maude, maybe Leonard didn’t recognise his Maude, or saw her too late, or the timing wasn’t right? Then again, work and relationships are a tricky thing, time spent with Maude is time away from writing that love song, the one that will be an anthem of forgiving...

Re: The Flame-discussion thread

Henning, please practice and have it ready for the Walking Weekend! I love that poem. Cihan, sorry that you are disappointed by it. I feel that it, like much of Yeats late work is spare and devoid of some of the lyricism of his earlier work, but very genuine, very heartfelt and effective. Most of th...

Re: Matters of Vital Interest: A Forty-Year Friendship with Leonard Cohen

Diane, I recently finished it and concur completely with you that it was an excellent read. It is so different from biography or interview or magazine profile. It is very apparent that there was genuine affection between the two of them. I highly recommend this book also.

I recognize some of them, but not all-so I'm not submitting my answers, but just wanted to mention that this was fun and thank you! Also, excellent guitar playing-you've got some chops!

Re: The Flame-discussion thread

Thank you, Scott-that was very touching. I'm struck now by Leonard's poem, "Antique Song" "Too old, too old to play the part, Too old, God only knows! I'll keep the little silver heart, The red and folded rose. And in the arms of someone strong You'll have what we had none. I'll finish up my winter ...

The Flame-discussion thread

I posted the following to a group of University of Wisconsin sports fans who I consider friends. It contains some personal history of my love of Leonard and his works, but I thought it might be a good start to a discussion of this wonderful book of poems and notebook entries. Just received the book ...

Arthur Moore has passed away

It is with great sorrow that I report that Arthur passed away on Monday, May 7th. Those of you who attended the Leonard Cohen Event on Hydra in 2002 and New York in 2004 will probably remember fondly Arthur and Bernadette. Here is a link to his memorial page for memories and condolences. https://www...
