Re: Ed Bruce - The Devil Inside

Hello Kush, That was very funny. I don't know how they both managed to keep a straight face during the exchange. I suspect it may have been edited as both of them at times look as if they are doing their best not to burst out laughing. It reminds me of some of the 'Pink Panther' films with Peter Sel...

Re: Ed Bruce - The Devil Inside

Hello Kush, Texas Homecare, according to Wikipedia, was a Do It Yourself company which operated in the United Kingdom in the last quarter of the twentieth century. I cannot remember seeing the advert as I have limited ambitions in that area! Your story about the 'Japanese' restaurant made me laugh. ...

Re: Ed Bruce - The Devil Inside

Hello again Kush,

In the course of my search I also found an advertisement from the eighties which I had never seen. It uses the same tune and there is some interesting information attached too.

Re: Ed Bruce - The Devil Inside

Hello Kush, Yes, I did mention him some years ago. I had heard this song in the eighties but could not remember much about it or even who performed it other than that I enjoyed listening to it. It was a nice surprise to eventually track it down. I have enjoyed listening to your Blaze Foley and Sturg...

Ed Bruce - The Devil Inside

A little known song of an underrated country and western singer. In some ways it reminds me a little of Mr.Cohen.

Re: Turtles all the Way Down - Sturgill Simpson

Hello Kush,

I have been meaning to reply to this post of yours for a while and I have finally got round to doing so. I had never heard of Sturgill Simpson before but I really enjoyed his songs. The live clip was exceptional. Thanks for bringing him to notice.

Bon soir, Monsieur Viscount. Il me semble that vous êtes le language police ici. I hope vous avez un nice, smart uniforme and a grand dictionnaire anglais avec tous les phrases and mots francais deleted en rouge. Pas de 'cliché', 'double entendre' or 'boutique' pour vous. It may be something of a 'f...

Nice to see a balanced response, Vicomte, or would you rather be addressed as 'Viscount' in future as you now seem to prefer prefer English?

'Chacun à son goût' or 'À chacun son goût', depending on one's use of language, taste or sense of pedantry.

Thank you for posting this link, Rita.

Pain, suffering, guilt, sin, love and religion. I hope Professor Rosemann continues to offer his perceptive insights into Mr.Cohen's words and how they have touched our sensitivities.

'Amelia's Railroad Flat'

One of Tom Russell's lesser known songs - but very evocative. We all have our own Amelia in our memory.

Re: 'Angel of Lyon' Tom Russell

Hello Kush and Diane, I went to see Tom Russell last night. As on previous occasions it was an enjoyable evening with about 150-200 people in attendance. It was the last show of his current tour and his engagement with the audience is infectious. Max De Bernardi was amazing with his guitar playing. ...

Perhaps you might wish to consider 'Queen Victoria' as a way to get everyone onto the dance floor if things need livening up even more.
