Geoffrey, You need to get out of the house more often. Despite positioning yourself as being superior in that last post you have also proved that you are no musicologist. I'm of the opinion that someone who makes sterotypical statements about an entire genre of American music is far more ignorant th...

I know that it's speculation on my part but I doubt Leonard would be concerned enough about a dyslexic moment from thirty years ago to fix it. There are some words that I reverse two letters on unintentionally when I type. I wouldn't prefer it to be that way, and I try to catch it before I post or s...

I was just kidding with you, Last Year's Man. And I don't want to see you have to call yourself Trailer Trash on here.

Got ya. (Sometimes it's hard to get the tone that something is written in.)

And I'm all for jest.

I agree, Tom. That one is an incredible documentary. I'm pretty sure that's the one Irving Layton is in that I liked so much. He reads parts of "Death Of A Ladies Man." I agree also that it seems very european and cool. I love his performance of "I Tried To Leave You" with the au...

As far as the comment board goes it is a differentiation gimmick--since there are a lot of posters here. As for me it does have a little meaning. A small tribute to Jean Michel Basquiat. I use it most of the time. Letters to people, emails, personal notes, etc. But I wasn't intending for it to "...

I have no idea what either of those posts mean. Nice name. Looks familiar. Perhaps I should change mine to Two Years Ago Man so people won't get confused.

No, what you're describing isn't Johnny Rotten, I don't think. I was joking anyway. I don't expect you to sound like him. At least I hope not. I'm sure all of your accents are charming, lovely and well spoken. I can understand british people when they speak, at least. I know a girl from New Zeland a...

An hour and 44 minutes is longer than I expected it to be. The part about Rufus Wainwright and some of his relatives messing up "Everybody Knows" cracked me up. I'm glad that these reviews go out of their way to point out that the songs are best heard by Leonard himself. I thought that Leo...

That's a cool item. I'm sure they're going to get a good chunk of dough for that.

It sounded like a really neat event. I would have tried to "purchase" both Leonard and Irving for the dinner. But I really wasn't purchasing a whole lot in 1982. I was 6.

Sounds cool. I think it's appropriate that Lou Reed will be there. It just seems right. I didn't know a lot of the other names. I was watching some Cohen stuff on youtube.com yesterday and they had him speaking before the showing of the documentary. It was quite funny. Some of you have probably alre...

I just read this whole thread. If you all really get together for the Cohen meet-ups it has to get really goddamn interesting! Wow.

All good points. And I think that you're right about what probably shaped my opinion in the back of my mind. It wasn't something that I'd thought about but I suppose that it does cheapen it subconsciously for me that it's a mass marketed thing and not a romantic story of how one first encounters Coh...

I would love to hear Leonard sing "gimme a break, gimme a break, break me off a piece of that kit-kat bar." That would be hilarious and creepy. Especially if he sang it slowwwwly. Sales would go through the roof and no one would be able to get that out of their heads. Make the kit-kat song...
