Re: LA MANIC : Leonard's perfect offering to Montrealers

I should have noted that my quote of the translation was not verbatim. Close I hope, but it was from memory. Hopefully someone posts a video. He certainly did use " what a drag" for "comme on s'ennuie". I was thrilled to hear it for the third time in Kingston last night. I really...

"I also hope someone captured Darkness. During Rafael' s drum solo Leonard was kind of chanting." Mary, yes! I forgot to mention the Darkness. It was great and a quite different delivery from the other two concerts I attended over the past couple of weeks. I wouldn't say he was chanting, b...

Lover, lover, lover! Another great night. Thanks to Cate for organizing the "I'm your Man" dinner! A more subdued and grayer crowd than my two previous concerts, but they got into it by the end. Highlights for me were: Lover, Lover, Lover and LC performing Chelsea Hotel alone, just the man...

Thanks Arlene, it is good to know that it wasn't just Ottawa! I had only seen the Montreal show where he referenced 'home', so I was surprised.

A nice story and letter to the editor from The Ottawa Citizen: Letter: A chance meeting with Leonard Cohen OTTAWA CITIZEN DECEMBER 8, 2012 Thirty years ago, I noticed Leonard Cohen walking towards me on Metcalfe Street in Ottawa. I said to him, "Did anyone ever tell you that you look a lot like...

Re: LA MANIC : Leonard's perfect offering to Montrealers

I can report that La Manic was very enthusiastically welcomed by Ottawa fans last night. Not as big of a standing ovation as in Montreal, but it was very well received. I was able to appreciate it more last night, after hearing it for the first time (well, by Leonard anyway) in Montreal. What a wond...

Deborah - thanks for the good wishes, we wish you were here too. I should be a fun night. We have a very talented local poet, Blaine Marchand, who has agreed to emcee the event tonight, so I'm off the hook. I'm still energised from the great concert we had here last night, so I can't wait for tonigh...

From Pottercan: "The encores were amazing. We were overwhelmed. Like finishing the box of chocolates and finding layer after layer underneath."

Well said, Pottercan, you nailed the feeling exactly.

Sigh, perfect.

And please do just ignore anything our mayor has to say.

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Ottawa, Ontario - December 7, 2012

It was a perfect show I think. The crowd was fantastic and more enthusiastic than Montreal last week. Contrary to a report above, I saw a very wide range of ages at the concert, from young adults in their early 20s to people in the 80s. At the end of the concert one very young (maybe 21?) woman comm...
