Re: Concert Report: Seattle, WA - November 9 2012

Rafael Gayol was quoted as saying that sometimes the band played so quietly you could almost hear dust particles colliding. How interesting an expression and how apt a way to discuss the use of silence in music. Note selection has a lot to do with music, but a great and underappreciated part of mus...

findingtime, you are correct.
As in, "That's right, you're wrong!"?

Re: Concert Report: Seattle, WA - November 9 2012

A great show, although not without its low points. I know it's probably heresy to offer any sort of criticism on this board, but I think a lot of people would agree that some of the music behind Leonard's songs has taken on a certain "soft rock" feel that does not always serve them well. ...

Re: OCT 31 MEET-UP IN AUSTIN TEXAS

Just got back from the Views and Brews event at the Cactus Cafe. What a treat! Most of Leonard's band (all but Neil Larsen) showed up, answered questions, told stories, played a few songs, and chatted with us afterwards. It was quite the experience to hear musicians of that caliber in an intimate (1...

Re: New Austin TX member

The Mansion at Judge's Hill is walking distance. Never stayed there (I live in Austin), but I'd suggest you check it out. Even if pricey, the transportation savings could be worth it. Downside: Don't expect a free shuttle from the airport. It's kind of a boutique hotel; a converted mansion in its se...

Thanks from Austin

Thanks to the whole LCF crew and Leonard Cohen and his management team. Once again we were able to get outstanding seats at the actual ticket price. The system is smooth and, best of all, it keeps the scalpers from taking advantage of devoted fans. I have to echo what someone mentioned on another th...

Austin, Texas Pre-sale

To the whole LCF crew: Thanks a ton! Once again you have gone above and beyond the call of duty to take care of the Cohenites. The Austin pre-sale went like a dream and once again Susan (the real Cohen fanatic) and I are set up with fantastic seats. Now we just have to wait five-and-a-half months. ....

Re: Sunday RC

I found a link that gives some information about the protesters, their issues, and their intentions. http://adalahny.org/ I'm looking forward to comments from forum members who attend tonight's show. Leonard knows a little something about protest. I think was can all expect that if there is anything...

Re: SPRINGSTEEN vs. COHEN

Well this is interesting. The Boss does Leonard. That encourages me to recount a recent rumination. My girlfriend and I saw the 2009 Tour opener in Austin. Springsteen was coming four days later and I briefly considered buying tickets before deciding it was too much to spend on live shows in one wee...

Re: The Monkey and a plywood violin

MaryB -- Thanks for the kind words but I cannot claim credit for the connection between "close to the heart" and the playing position of the harp. That was an amazing insight and I think it was friscogrl. I really think the answer is Hattie and the harp maker in Red Wing, but the Leanne/Bo...

Re: The Monkey and a plywood violin

Brightnow: Brilliant! You have to have come to the right answer. I guess we'll know for sure pretty soon. And who was the clever one who figured out the "close to their [now we know it's "her"] heart" and harp connection? That was pure genius. So, does that put anyone closer to f...

Re: The Monkey and a plywood violin

Here's what I think. The hotel bed picture contains a clue about Fred the Monkey's human helper on the tour. The Lollapolooza shirt must have some significance. Is there anyone in the band who has performed at Lollapolooza? I know it is still unknown whether the helper is a member of the band or the...

Re: The Monkey and a plywood violin

Forum puzzle solvers: I downloaded and blew up the Minneapolis hotel room picture and I am certain the item next to the water bottle is actually two items: The plywood violin and the bow. For whatever help that provides. I have no idea about the tee shirt on the bed or anything about the Red Wing pi...

Re: The Monkey and a plywood violin

So the item next to the water bottle is not the plywood violin and bow? And how many puzzles are there? Do the clues in the hotel rest photo have anything to do with the clues in the Red Wing photo? By the way, the towns of Red Wing and Burnside merged sometime back. Based upon that, I suspect that ...

I believe you are referring to "Boogie Street," one of the songs she wrote in collaboration with Leonard.
