Re: R.I. P. Julie Felix

Felix first moved to England in 1964. Shortly after arriving, Felix became the resident musician for the Australian talk show host David Frost’s BBC show.
Until just now, I never knew that David Frost was Australian.

Game of Thrones

I don't know if this qualifies for the Soundtracks listing, but I discovered Leonard in one of the Game of Thrones "features" on Disc 3 of Series 8. During "Game of Thrones The Last Watch", part of You want It Darker is used as soundtrack just after 47 minutes. So, in the extra features, not in the ...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

I am heading back to the original intention of this thread, i.e. what Leonard's albums mean to me as a contributor to the thread, rather than what Leonard intended a meaning (or multiple meanings) to be. In so doing, I am not criticising any sidetracks that have arisen. I have gone down quite a few ...

Re: never-ending gallery

I love it. There's nothing wrong with a bit of frivolity, in fact, the more the merrier. Do the hearts within hearts symbolise your caring considerate personality? Do the yellow flowers symbolise the daffodils we have been discussing? Keep up the good work. I have trouble drawing a straight line, ev...

Re: never-ending gallery

Thank you, both Lisa and Geoffrey. I certainly agree that the meaning of a poem or song that enters the consciousness of the reader or listener may not be the same as that of the author. Also our interpretation of the meaning may change over time after multiple readings or listenings. Many times, of...

Re: never-ending gallery

Thank you, Lisa. No, I did not know about the predecessor of the ukulele. You are an amazing font of knowledge. You got me singing - no, thinking and looking. There is actually a daffodil cultivar called "machete", registered prior to 1923 in UK. Then following that up by finding "daffodil symbolism...

Re: never-ending gallery

Greetings Geoffrey and Lisa.
I have been following your posts daily and enjoyed them greatly.
Geoffrey's most recent art work has stimulated me to let my ignorance hang out again.
In The Night of Santiago what do you think a daffodil machete is?
Could you draw me one, please?

Re: Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love, film by Nick Broomfield

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I was aware of quite a bit of the story, but a lot of the video and film clips were new to me.
I particularly enjoyed seeing Hydra again and seeing how little it has changed.

Great review, Greg.
I guess there's little chance of a tour "down under".

This clip reminds me of:
Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive, sung by Bing Crosby

You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

etc.

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's poetry and novels

I love that although Alan has professed that he does not like listening to spoken poetry (or maybe it was reading poetry he didn't like), he so perfectly loves A Thousand Kisses Deep and has given us that awesome video. You are a conundrum Alan! The brackets have it! (Or should that be the parenthe...
