Re: Polly Samson's novel about Hydra in the 60s (and David Gilmour's perfoming Cohen songs)
Yes, it looks as if David Gilmour is a long-time admirer of LC. He was on the BBC's Desert Island Discs back in 2003 and his selection included Dylan, Joni Mitchell and LC's Anthem.

Re: Polly Samson's novel about Hydra in the 60s (and David Gilmour's perfoming Cohen songs)
Thank you for posting those links, Tom. I had tickets for this, not only because there was a Leonard connection, but also being a huge admirer of Polly Samson and David Gilmour. It's re-scheduled for sometime in September, I think. I've just watched the first of the videos - I didn't know anything a...

I'm intrigued - I notice it says that the most ever users online was 1503 on Tuesday October 1, 2019. Did something special happen on that day - other than news about the new album and Nick Broomfield's fim? Did I miss something

Re: 'The times they are a-changing...' Montreal concert
I can't help feeling that a tribute and celebration like this should have been held today - the anniversary of his birth - the day it all started, rather than around the anniversary of the very sad day we lost him. My personal reaction to any anniversary of loss is quiet remembrance, but I respect t...

Re: Art Garfunkel
Saw Art Garfunkel in Oxford on Saturday. Really enjoyed it, although the voice seemed a bit uncomfortable at times. But considering what he's been through, all credit to him for the strength and discipline it must have taken to get back to this level of performance. And the voice of Garfunkel Jnr - ...

Re: Songs from a Room
AlexandraLaughing, have you seen this film about LC's early work with Ira Nadel and Jim Devlin, amongst others? Interesting information/analysis of the early work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCbekHrQNYU I only discovered it recently and haven't found anything about it on the forum here (althoug...

Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday
If there's a problem with Hydra, let's think about Montreal - not in the vicinity of LC's house, but somewhere near that "place by the river" perhaps?

From the BBC - doesn't say when it's due to be broadcast though. Love the idea of nudity in a radio show... Arthur Smith Sings Leonard Cohen Again Arthur Smith Sings Leonard Cohen was a hit at Edinburgh's Fringe Festival some years ago. The show ran in London's West End before a final outing in Mont...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: LUCCA (JULY 9, 2013) PIAZZA NAPOLEONE
Big thank you to everyone who's posted sound check videos. There are so many (very good) videos of the concerts themselves, but they all look the same, with Leonard and the band in 'performance' mode, so it's refreshing to see these videos. I know it's not usually possible to see (as well as hear) t...

Re: PRESALE TO THE UK SHOWS
So pleased about all the UK dates - but I can't believe it - I'm going to be away for all but the O2 concert However ... there's a bit of a gap between 8th and 14th. Jarkko - are there likely to be any more UK concerts, or is the list complete?

Re: Sylvie Simmons Reading and Q & A in London
Thanks so much for pointing this up, John. I shall be there. I'm currently reading the book on a Kindle (good for on the train), but deeply frustrating as when I picked it up last night the battery was completely flat. So, happy to buy the book!

Re: Where will our 2014 Event be?
I don't think Birmingham should be lightly dismissed - after all, an important and attractive place in our literary heritage is not a million miles away - Stratford-upon-Avon. Can't guarantee the weather of course, but a visit to the theatre to see a performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company woul...
