My wife Helen and I didn't know Harald as well as some of you but, on our many Cohen-related meet ups we always had a brief chat. A very engaging gentleman and a real character who always made us smile. Condolences to all who were close to him. He will be missed...RIP Harald.
Regards,
Scott & Helen

Leonard Cohen albums ranked worst-to-best...Far Out Magazine
Far Out magazine's view on Leonard Cohen albums ranking....Always controversial..... Surprises to me were Songs from a Room only at No.10 and Death of a Ladies Man as high as No. 5 ..however I'll leave it to individuals to decide as to how they view this list. :D https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/leonard...

Re: Avalanche - Janileigh Cohen
Just saw this so thanks for posting. Janileigh is a young English artist from Bolton near Manchester. She has covered a few LC songs as well as other artists such as Bob Dylan and Nick Cave. She is also a songwriter in her own right. Her most recent single: "To be with you" references Leonard in the...

Re: Father John Misty to cover Leonard Cohen on new EP Anthem +3
Thanks for sharing. I think that most of us here appreciate that other artists are influenced by Leonard and are trying to pay homage to him with their interpretations of his songs, however we've all come across some horrendous covers. While he doesn't fall into this category, I've heard a bit of FJ...

Leonard Cohen reference in JP Cooper Song
I'm not sure if this is news to the forum but I heard this for the first time today. "Little Bit of Love" is a recent release by the English singer/songwriter JP Cooper. He references Leonard in the following lines: "When you're acting like you're fine but you ain't copin' And you're listenin' to to...

Re: Official video released on Youtube of "The Hills"
...One error appears to be that the line ...."I can't make the hills" appears as "I can make the hills" on this video. Quite a difference in meaning I would suggest. In Book of Longing I have only seen "I can't make the hills"..? The same "typo" appears in the printed lyrics in the booklet that cam...

Just saw the video for "The Hills" on Instagram. Not sure if this is the official version as it has subtitles. Re: EVENT POSTPONED
Dear friends, First of all, I want to stress what has been said already: thank you, Maarten, for all your efforts. It must have been a tough decision, but it was the right one, to postpone the 2020-event. My (absolutely personal!) preference would be to schedule the event in 2021. An argument that ...

Re: EVENT POSTPONED
Hi Maarten, I hope this finds you and yours well. I think you had no option but to take this difficult decision particularly given recent updates on the potential longevity of this pandemic. Its very disappointing for all concerned and no doubt even more so for you and the team. Personally, I would ...

"Dance Me To The End of Love" - Whitehouse Farm
Last night (29th January) in episode 4 of the ITV six-part drama "Whitehouse Farm" featured a scene with 'Dance Me To The End of Love' playing in the background. It sounded like Leonard's original "Various Positions" version which was released in 1984, around a year before the events of August 1985,...
