Re: Montreal Leonard Cohen Memorial Commemorative Box Set

It's a little tempting, but I share the disappointment expressed by others around the contents, including on the tracks selected for the live cd (which we already have plenty of live recordings of). I've been itching for a decent live recording of Born in Chains from his world tours which is much di...

Re: Art print costs.

Eeeep - OK perhaps I'll have to park that idea. I'm not a huge fan of Cohen's art in general, but do quite like the piece used for the cover of Book of Longing. Guessing that is probably one of the more in-demand prints and likely to be at the higher end of the price range beyond what I could reason...

Re: Statement from Cohen Estate: Unauthorized use of "Hallelujah" as finale to Convention Festivities

Political parties aside (Cohen may have been "neither left nor right"), do people here really have any doubt how Leonard would have felt about a figure like Trump? The current president is pretty much character-wise the antithesis of who Cohen was as a man. In his life and his work, Cohen was a pro...

Re: Statement from Cohen Estate: Unauthorized use of "Hallelujah" as finale to Convention Festivities

If it weren't already pretty obvious based on some of his lyrics, the Cohen family made it very clear in the response they put out that they do not think Cohen would have wanted to be associated with the Republican party or Donald Trump. So unless you think you have a better idea of how he would ha...

Reaction videos

I've become somewhat addicted to watching music reaction videos on YouTube (a relatively recent phenomenon where people upload videos of themselves listening to and commenting on music they haven't heard before). Surprisingly there aren't that many of Leonard's work, but there were a couple I found/...

Art print costs.

Hi folks.

Does anyone have any idea how much approximately Cohen's fine art prints retail for (official website only states price on request)?

http://www.leonardcohenfineart.com/contact.html

Guessing they probably vary from one artwork to the next, but a rough ballpark would be great.

How very mean spirited you socialists are. This is just the reaction I expected though. If it weren't already pretty obvious based on some of his lyrics, the Cohen family made it very clear in the response they put out that they do not think Cohen would have wanted to be associated with the Republi...

Re: The MAC Exhibition for LC to go to New York, Copenhagen, San Francisco

The MAC website states that:

"Plans are underway to extend this first phase of the tour and add other destinations"

Fingers crossed it makes its way to London as would like another chance to see it.

Re: charles likes leonard

I have very little time for the Royal Family, especially Prince Charles and his penchant for using his position of privilege to lobby politicians and meddle in public affairs (see eg, https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/jun/04/black-spider-memos-prince-charles-lobbied-homeopathy-funding-nhs). Bizarre cover of The Partisan

I stumbled across the following cover of The Partisan by British electro/EBM outfit Goteki on Spotify:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oQLNxXBB9c

This surely must rank highly in the worst Leonard covers of all time list? :)

Re: Will there be posthumous disc?

- More selections from the tours between 2008-2013. Possible tracks include Born In Chains (2010 live version - a must!), It Feels So Good, more tracks from Old Ideas that weren't included on Live In Dublin,... I remember how excited I was to find out that Born in Chains was going to be included on...

Re: Montreal tribute: media coverage, photos & YouTube links

Would be incredible if this gets a cd or dvd release. Loving the footage available on youtube, deserves an official release! I'm also curious on whether this show will be released on CD/DVD? Audio ripped from copies of the TV broadcast is good but it would be nice to have a proper release without a...

My (very) low opinion of Jeremy Paxman got a little higher with this.

Well worth a listen.

Re: Montreal: comments and feelings

I kept a set list in Evernote during the concert. Here's what I took down. Sting "Dance Me to the End of Love" Feist "Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye" Patrick Watson "Who By Fire" Sharon Robinson "I'm Your Man" Wesley Schultz & Jeremiah Fraites (The Lumineers) "Democracy" Ron Sexsmith "Suzanne" E...
