Re: CONCERT REPORTS: London, September 8 & 9

Wonderful concert despite Wembley venue ( not my favourite) Would have loved the Hop Farm with the weather as it was and a mid afternoon start. Still great to see Leonard again and loved the violin focus of the sound. Missed Dino and Bob of course but violin was astounding and Xavier and Neil came m...

Re: Songs From the Road - new live album - Sept 14, 2010

I agree with everything nalmont writes in previous message.Thank you and spot on--The DVD is compelling- and captures the spirit of the concerts in a way Live in London failed to for me. I was critical of the camera work and camera lenses used on Live in London which left the DVD bereft of the atmos...

Re: CONCERT REPORT : Paris Bercy, July 7

The fourth time of seeing Leonard in the last year and it finally happened!!! I didn't even expect it. As usual he started the second half with Tower of Song and then took up his guitar to do an individual piece which I guessed would be Suzanne-but no, no it was Avalanche! That great dark sublime so...

Re: "Leonard Cohen Live in London" - DVD & 2CD - April 2009

I read with interest Jarkko's posting of Bill Sanders' comments about the Live in London DVD. I have also read the comments about the DVD on Amazon UK including the disparaging one star reviews(plural).Unfortunately ,there are now an increasing number of comments on Amazon critical of the quality of...

Re: "Leonard Cohen Live in London" - DVD & 2CD - April 2009

Leonard doesn't have cameras on stage(except behind) and I'm afraid this weakens the perspective of the DVD.The camera work is static and exclusive rather than inclusive as there are very few if any mobile cameras to create the intimacy of those on stage with the audience.Audience shots are distinct...

I found this information on Leonard and royalties. My apologies if it has already been posted here and especially if by Larissa. Re: London RAH, 17-18 November 2008

by K-Holed on Tue Nov 18, 2008 8:13 pm It's interesting to note that Avalanche seems to have been cut from the UK setlists. I'm going to see him again in Manchester and I hope he plays it there. It's probably my favourite song and I've been somewhat secretly yearning for it, even though I've not be...

Re: Cardiff 8 November

Yes the weather was horrendous both in and out of Wales but this concert was sublime. I saw him in Amsterdam and at the Big Chill, both outdoor venues. This was my first concert hall and the intimacy, subtlety and mastery shone through. Yes I agree with previous comments about the ensemble being not...

Re: Big Chill (Aug 3)

Paddieu an Interesting posting. My experience has similarly been at two outdoor venues, Amsterdam and TBC.I look forward to an indoor venue in November. Your thoughts on a slower tempo are intriguing. I would add to this a definite sound balance change about the time of Who by Fire which I mentioned ...

Re: Big Chill (Aug 3)

This last month I have been lucky enough to see two of the best concerts I have ever seen. One was the magical performance given by Leonard in Amsterdam. The other was an awesome performance by Tom Waits in Dublin last Friday.. Both artists in their inimitable way dig deep, very deep and to see them...
