Re: Glastonbury 2008
I was by the the TV anticipating the performance, only to learn from the BBC hosts that LC had refused permission for his set to be broadcast. They commented on how sad they were, as the performance (as we know) was outstanding. I think the reason was concerns over the quality, as there was no facil...

Re: Jackson Browne
Thank you Bev. Got myself The pretender, and I'm enjoying it very much. The title track I'm familiar with from his 'Best of' album and listened with interest to Sleep's dark and silent gate. Also particularly like 'Your bright baby blues' and 'Linda Paloma'. The album has a lot of competition at the...

Re: Jackson Browne
I discovered Jackson Browne in the late 70s/early 80s. At the time, I was listening to very little other than LCs Recent Songs. I was of the mind that no one really came close in terms of song writing. However, I chanced upon Late for the Sky and the songs slowly began to grow on me. I see it as a s...

Re: Misheard Lyrics
Thanks for the interpretations Linda. This much I now recall; it's the same song (leaving Winslow) that I thought I heard 'Leonard's favourite Koan' and I was convinced that's what he sang. We'll probably never know for sure. I really enjoyed the show and thought about getting tickets for the RAH (t...

Re: Misheard Lyrics
That's interesting. I was at the Manchester gig on Tuesday and was convinced he had name checked Leonard Cohen in a song (sadly, can't recall which). I looked to my wife, but it had not registered, so I left it. I wonder how Koan is pronounced?
Re: Radio 2
Yes Philip, I was also pleasantly surprised. As you say, on popular radio we only seem to get Suzanne and perhaps one or two others. Hearing Teachers on Saturday compelled me to fish out the album and pay particular attention to Teachers, Winter lady, stories of the street and some of the other less...

Re: Christine Tobin's 'A Thousand Kisses Deep' tribute album
Yes, I agree with lightasabreeze. I downloaded without listening as I read a great review in The Guardian. I was disappointed with the opening track, Famous Blue Raincoat, which was too upbeat for me, and didn't capture the painful sentiment of the song. John Fordham in the review says Christine is ...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Brighton, AUGUST 28th 2013
I have snatched an opportunity to catch up on this, as a little Hors D' Oeuvre for Birmingham next week. Thanks to all for the posts. John Etherington, like others special thanks for your great review. You always tell a great story and your Manchester Opera House 2008 was also epic. I'm praying that...

Re: Sad news: Arlene Dick has passed away
So sad to hear this news. Arlene contributed so much to the forum, and I had missed her presence over recent weeks. I was privileged to meet her in Gothenburg in 2010 and I know LCs comeback had enriched her life over recent years. I'm left with fond memories. Liam
