When I eat in that neighborhood, it's usually at Schwartz's. Moishe's is out of my price range.

P.S. The print edition of the article is illustrated by some vintage photos of Leonard Cohen. Unfortunately, they're not included in the web site version.

If you haven't seen it yet. I highly recommend the article from the Canadian Jewish News by Mike Regenstreif of Folk Roots/Folk Branches.

I really enjoyed this article. The author, Mike Regenstreif, does the wonderful CKUT folk program, here in Montreal, that had the wonderful tribute to Leonard Cohen a couple of weeks ago.

An excellent program. I listened live over the radio and have played it twice again from the web archive. The songs by Perla Batalla were superb. I can't wait for her CD to come out. It was also a big treat to hear Tom Russell, one of very favourite singer-songwriters, do "Tower of Song." ...

Hi Lizzy, It was a long time ago and in those days I was seeing folksingers perform four or five times a week. How the performance was has long since slipped from my memory. What was memorable about that night was meeting LC. I could be wrong, but so far as I know, Naomi Layton never pursued a perfo...

Naomi Layton was a singer-songwriter who accompanied herself on the guitar. I've not seen or heard of her since then.

Hi Paula,

Someone once asked me if I was that Helen Shapiro. I'd never even heard of her then.

Many years ago, maybe around 1972 or 1973, I was just a teenager at the time, I went often to a little coffee house in Montreal called the Yellow Door. One night, the featured performer was the daughter of Irving Layton, the poet who was a mentor to Leonard. Leonard was there that night and we excha...

Greetings from Montreal, the city of Leonard Cohen.

Mike Regenstreif's Folk Roots/Folk Branches is the best radio program we have here in Montreal. It's always really great and I'm sure the Leonard Cohen Special on Thursday is going to be fantastic.
