Yes, my initial post was one of my more stupid ones. But if I apologise it will only sound like more egotism. J D Salinger once wrote, "a confessional passage has probably never been written that didn't stink a little bit of the writers pride at having given up his pride." Or something. Bu...

All I was trying to say was that whenever I go into any forum (on any subject) it's usually filled with threads full of people getting extremely angry about very pedantic points. And then as much as I hate it I usually end up joining in. Yes, I am a hypocrite and an egomaniac just like everyone else...

Whatever phase or obsession I'm in the midst of I can usually see connections with it in Beautiful Losers. Like all great abstract art it reflects the viewer's mind, and what you read into it counts as much to the overall feel as what the author actually wrote. Every time I've read BL it seemed like...

Dear Heather Picture

I have the Dear Heather poster on my wall. I glanced at it while I was half asleep yesterday and it occurred to me that the woman in the picture looks exactly like Anjani Thomas. Am I being incredibly slow? Is this an old, known fact? Is this a drawing Leonard did of Anjani? Compare it to the pictur...

Films

What do you think the chances are of the documentaries "Bird On A Wire" and "Song Of Leonard Cohen" ever being given official, remastered DVD releases?? Is that on the cards at all? I have old fuzzy bootleg copies of both. I think they're amazing films that really capture a time....

Leonard is way up high in the tower of song. U2 haven't even got past the front gate yet. There must be better "artists" for him to duet with!!

O Cruel Fate

I was just reading about Adam Cohen's encounter with Marianne's daughter on Hydra without knowing who each other were. Isn't that an amazing coincidence. Life is strange. But what I really want to know is how come beautiful Norwegian girls don't just appear in my life from time to time? O cruel fate...

I'm rereading that book right now. It's a great place to get lost in.

Have you read the biography Various Positions?? It's been awhile since I read it but I seem to remember it has a lot in there about real life incidents that happen in The Favourite Game. Like the famous hypnotised maid :D

In Death Of A Lady's Man, Cohen says, "I decided to jump literature ahead a few years." Although he was joking I think he may well have really done that. Beautiful Losers reads like a David Lynch movie. I think you need to read it more as several long poems. I liked the ending.

I always wished just once Len would have got someone like Trent Reznor to produce one of his albums. The combination would've been great.
