Re: 2012 Leonard Cohen Event
Haven't been around much lately, but wanted to weigh in here. Madison would be terrific, because: 1. It would afford a full measure of Joe's wisdom and intuition. 2. It could prompt us to reflect on Karl Armstrong, the lead player in a much mooted anti-war bombing at U of W in 1970. 3. It could expo...

Anyone know if Lister Hall at University of Alberta has wireless Internet -- or even Internet cable ports? What about other locations?

Re: Edmonton International Leonard Cohen Event 2008
And yes, BTW -- Festival Express is avbl on DVD, with about an hour's worth of extra tunes and such beyond what played in theatres. Mind you, it's still best to see it on a really big screen from a really close seat, in a really relaxed frame of mind if'n ya catch my drift.

Re: Where is the 2010 Event??
Ya know -- it might could be that, in the event that the Event was held twice in a row in North America, on account of there were some energetic folk here and maybe not so much in Europe -- that what the hey -- the sun would continue to rise in the east anyway.
Just sayin, is all.
Just sayin, is all.

Re: Sad news about a Forum friend
Reviewing these posts, and especially catching Big Al’s re-visiting, in the newsgroup, of Paul’s introduction to the LC world in 2000, makes me think that we should somehow figure out a way – as a community – to honor his memory. That said, I’m at a loss as to what it might be. I suppose the closest...

Re: Sad news about a Forum friend
This is so sad. I’d been aware that Paul had been ailing, but his actual passing still shocks. Whether in posts to boards like this, or in the occasional private exchange over the years, I always found his prose to somehow convey a sense of peace – a commodity which is sometimes in short supply in t...

Well then there. I've known Paul Gessell for more than 25 years -- since his wire service days, before he joined The Citizen -- and always found him to be an astute observer of the passing scene. Not seeing anything here to make me change my mind; he's a stellar journalist who turned out a lengthy b...
