Impromptu singing in Toronto last year- YouTube

Post by mnkyface »

(My apologies because I am sure this has been discussed in an old thread but I have trouble with this forum - whenever I search I get "no results").

I can't stop watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e842XqQAu-Q
I love how emotional the others look; obviously they are so honored to sing with LC. I love how he totally nails the song- even when he asks (with oh-such-nonchalance...can he BE any cooler??) the other singer for a forgotten lyric. Seamless. Gives me goosebumps and I grin at my computer screen like an idiot for a full 6 minutes every time I watch this video.

Videographer - if you are part of this forum and reading this- kudos to you for capturing this historic moment.

Before becoming obsessed with this video, I hadn't listened to this song much yet on my Essentials CD...boy has that changed now. What a wonderful line: your spider web is fastening my ankle to a stone.

Thanks mnkyface!! I have never seen that before, even though it probably has been on here before, it's not possible to catch everything. Thanks also for sharing your enthusiasm, and welcome to the forum.

This is also new shot for me - I saw this, but recorded from the front row, this is the another shot, from (Leonard's) left angle.

The frontal shot is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckG8om1nqVM&

The same place:

It was a fantastic day. I love being reminded of it. That was the first time we had heard him sing in many years, I was very lucky that it was in my hometown and I happened to be there!

And I couldn't stop SMILING as I watched it, Mnkyface :D !

I loved seeing the joy made evident by the bounding-about guitar, even though you couldn't see the guy in the black shirt after he and they began playing and singing. You could see the bliss in his movements.

I loved seeing Leonard turn around and sustain a smile directly at him toward the end.

I loved how I could hear Leonard's voice separately they trio'd.

I loved the happiness of people who could now say they actually played and sang with Leonard Cohen.

I loved seeing Leonard's joy and enthusiasm and joy and enthusiam and joy in singing.

This was a great view of this concert, Mnkyface. Thank you so much for sharing it and keep watching :D !

Hi Tom,

Videos of Hey, That's No Way... and (the most intrigue!) A Street are no longer available.
Would you be so kind to share them, either publicly or privately?

That would be so much appreciated!

I really can not imagine any artist to get cooler than this Man - I have seen the two So long Marianne captures and hope that those other existing ones will someday reappear!

BY THE WAY- in the So long Marianne clips - if not focusing too much one the stage happenings - one can clearly identify a professional TV camera and it's operater.

I am unsecure if anyone knows about a (professional quality) FULL LENGHT document of this public, let's use the word - historic - art happening.
I am sure that if such exists it would be something very special for not only the absolute devotees of the great Masters work.

Best Regards from the Alps-
