Who's that guy interviewing him? Is that Ira Nadel?

Great video! Thanks.

For me, this really showed LC's dedication and devotion to the work of poetry. I was torn between two images I had in my head when watching this. One of a big Buddha bellied LC, waddling around uncomfortable and craving. Eternally pregnant poet...there's the laugh. And the image of LC worrying and wondering if and when to give birth to the possibility of a monster only a mother could love...no laugh there. This man is a wonder. No wonder I love his work. (Maybe I'll send him a shower gift for his next birth. haha)

OK. As you can tell, I'm trying to participate in the forum again. When there's good stuff here, why not? Helps to get my brain in gear and accelerate me. The brakes are off. I'm baaacccck.

Welcome back, Dar.

Thanks for the link, Yankovic. It sounds like a good one. I'll watch it later from home.

That's Rebecca DeMornay sitting on the bar stool drinking and reading while Leonard is being interviewed!

I didn't get a chance to watch this video last night, but the scene you've just described is in a film on Leonard... maybe a press release/publicity video?

Jarkko and I discussed this and indeed, there's Rebecca there and also shots of her and LC and Anthem. The video ends with The Future logo and it all looks very official, and (despite old BBC 1988 footage they used) as the press kit for The Future and Closing Time single (there's whole video clip in this programme!).

Anyhow, Marie has just confirmed our guessing - this was planned to be included in The Future Press Kit but in the end was never used. She only recalls that she saw it somewhere years later.

Of course, you did guess by now that this is completely new to us, that nobody has this video on VHS or DVD or anything, and indeed we have here a real discovery! And also really good stuff. The quality of this upload isn't quite good; is there any way now to get the DVD? (It seems that the uploader is somebody from professional music business?)

Btw, it's not Ira Nadel, this man talking to Leonard in the cafe is pretty hairy :)

Do you know who the person interviewing Leonard, is? Do you know who directed this video? I'm guessing they posted this in preparation for the Rock Hall. Maybe they know something that we don't. Maybe they have connections. The Rock Hall does a short video biography of artists at the induction ceremonies that the audience members in attendance and people watching on TV at home and on the internet can see. They could use footage from this and from Ladies and Gentleman, among other things. Maybe there will be new interview footage as well!

This clip was just recently added October 22, 2007.

Do the names Mike Lastra and Brian Follies ring a bell?

Leonard's spirit is profound. His thinking is deep. This video is one of many reminders of both; yet, such a powerful one. I see I've been calling the car wrong ~ it's not a Volkswagen, but a Volvo. I won't make that mistake, again. So much that is quotable from this video. Such a testimony to how Leonard's music so carefully crafted to last fulfills the exactness of that desire. It's wonderful to see him talking about a song ["Closing Time"] in such specifics. I enjoyed watching how he waited until Rebecca had stop rustling the newspaper before he began speaking, again. I've seen this video, but I couldn't tell you where. I'm glad it's so easily accessible now. Thanks to whomever put it on YouTube. I'll watch it again, later. Thanks so much for bringing it here, Yankovic. It would be a great one for playing at the Rock 'n' Roll awards ceremony. It gives such a strong sense of who Leonard is and his huge contribution to the music industry.
