Some quick thoughts on Zurich:

It was a night of surprises.

- The venue was really classy! Last time I was at the Hallenstadion was probably 15years ago so I was expecting the same old fashioned stadium...but no! Serious renovations somewhere down the line and I thought, as far as stadiums go, it was well organized and exuded that Swiss level of precision that you either love...or love to hate! It was comfy! (lots of legroom for once) Sound was good and video was well done and despite a long painful drive from Geneva area, everything worked out so well on arrival (free parking! crazy!) I was instantly re-energized for the evening
- Great to meet up with James_on_tour who made the hop from Dublin for the occasion
- Fantastics seats! Many thanks Jarkko for the pre-sale. Concert wasn't sold out, but the venue felt full.
- There are bound to be some nice videos and photos from this. One row in front of me (so 4th row) someone ran pretty much the whole show. I hope they share
- First set had some great energy. Second set had Avalanche! but then seem to run, ever so slightly out of steam. Please don't take that as a negative comment, it wasn't a bad thing, just a notch down from the first set.
- Big movement of people in front of the stage during the start of Take this Waltz. No many dancers :-( but more as everyone wanted to get close to Leonard. Security let it go, which again...was the classy thing to do and nice to see.
- Then after so many nice surprises, a short encore which left the crowd wanting more! In life though, leaving the people wanting more is probably the way to go no?

See you all down the road.

This was a great concert. The first set was powerfull, with great performances of "Lover Lover Lover" and "Gypsy's wife". :) The second set was okay but not as good as the first - as already mentioned. I liked the encore, wished for another one or two though... Oh and I really missed Anthem, Famous blue Raincoat and Waiting for the miracle... :?

after Tower of song: "Without your backing vocals I could not stand the Sound of my own voice."

It was a fantastic concert! Great to hear "Avalanche" and "The gypsy's wife". "The compliments to Sharon and the Webb sisters after "Tower of Song" were also nice. The ladies really derserve this praise! It was my first concert without one of my alltime favourites "Famous blue raincoat" (was there another gig since 2008 he left this one out?). But fortunately, I've heard it already in Paris, Montreux and Vienna during this tour.

Also some famous guests were at the Hallenstadion last night watching the concert: Andreas Vollenweider, Marc Sway and Pepe Lienhard. Vollenweider needs no further presentation I think, Sway is a swiss soul singer with brazilian roots and Pepe Lienhard is best known as the leader of the bigband touring with Udo Jürgens for many years now.

POP UND JAZZ
Leonard Cohen in Zürich

Was soll's?

The Last Dance For Me».

Dear Wijbe,

thank you for the Link, I did buy NZZ today but there was no article about LC , I suppose it is only online today and the print edition will be tomorrow.

I have read the comments, those having assisted to more concerts maybe recognized the difference between first and second part, indeed it was not as good, BUT STILL PERFECT and those not having comparisons I think they did not realize it really and all seemed happy and touched by the concert.

Leonard was great and is getting better day by day, it just unbelievable and indescribable ...also the musicians and singers were excellent.
I am sure the band would have played more encores, as we were close to the front side (right side) we could see and understand that they had to stop, the workman came so fast on the stage to start dismantelling, they put on lights in the hall very early , openend the doors were the workmen were ready to enter... and really did not give the band a change for more encores...
I personally was a bit sad as usually after " closing time" it is not finished , so I was sure to see Leonard one more time for" I tried to leave you" or "Save the last dance"...so I really did not have the time to give my own inner goodbye to Leonard and his band , it was a sudden unexpected leave.....they simply seemed not to be allowed to come out again....

A pity it was my last concert...so this sudden unexpected farewell makes me a bit melancholic...BUT thanks to Leonard and all the band.....you were again great and very special as ever :-)))

It must have been pretty wonderful because the man who bought my ticket and I had decided to split the cost of courier service for the ticket. This morning, first thing, I opened my email and there was a message from PayPal that he'd paid the whole thing! :D
