Great to hear "La Manic" by mr Cohen. He must have loved this song for years, check his acceptance speech for the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame back in 2006:

The reference to La Manic starts around 2.45, if you manage to get to that point without letting a tear roll down your cheeck...

Si tu savais comme on s'ennuie
A la Manic
Tu m'écrirais bien plus souvent
A la Manicouagan

Thanks, mr Cohen
There's a reference on this speech on Arlene's blog aswell

Arlene's blog reference was my number 2

Hi,
I think you must be mistaking "Un Canadien errant" with another song, because it wasn't played in Paris...

Reality is always catching up. No matter how many efforts one may do trying to elude it. :D

So be zen and up-date your computers, fella.... 8) And please forgive me to always have everythings so right. I don't do it in purpose, and it feels so alone here on these heights ;-)

After you finish doing this, have a look there, it may interest you :

P.S. : Chocolatvodka, he?

As a non-alcoolic beverage, Tchocolatl was meant to be a link to gods' power. I guess that vodka leads to think the same way. It is the day after that reality catch up with drinkers.

Must be The Partisan, maybe? That he sang all in French? Or partly, like usual? Or a mistake in the list? In any case that's how the light gest in. You won't die to have done a mistake who ever did it, believe me. :D

This link to the blog is better, more complete, than the one in my previous post :

It's buzzing on the Web! Mostly in French. So they won't come in this thread to write about it, i guess, but no doubt that everybody was sweept off their feet by the performance, just like I was.

Indeed this captation of LA MANIC is great, and we can hear more of Leonard's french introductory remarks to the song.

Wirebird's capture of La Manic in Montreal is perfect to my ears!
You could hear the crowd go wild and the enthusiasm and joy and pride when they recognized it...and at different times in the song.
I am grateful for all the recordings but his was exactly how I heard it!
Oh what a night it was...
Thank you
