"Cohen: Lessons from Leonard"

http://blogues.lapresse.ca/houle/2012/1 ... 1764%22%7D

Google translation:

Leonard Cohen concluded Sunday the Quebec portion of his tour with a stunning performance at the Coliseum. My criticism here. In total, he has delivered nearly 30 songs. Not bad for a young artist ... 78 years.

Those who were caught in Montrealers of his previous tour were not disoriented. Mr. Cohen showed the same shape and the same luminous presence on the boards. The formula was similar: great team of musicians, arrangements expanded, three singers who gave him the reply, whose long-time collaborator, Sharon Robinson and the Webb Sisters wonderful.

Cohen seemed well aware that this could be his final tour, admitting he did not know "when we meet again." He also served in public what he expected, but also new material from the excellent Old Ideas and even a reversal of the Manic - he said work on an adaptation ... And then he is allowed to leave the securities may be less obvious, especially in the album the Future.

These are great lessons Cohen has served, in spite of himself, showing what aging well. He had fun on stage, but knew also share the premises with his accomplices, he listened to religiously. The hipsters who boast of delivering most of their concert in twenty minutes, he opposed more than three hours of shows, there are no troughs of waves. And mature veterans taking the shape of a jukebox turning the same parts in the same way it happened with orchestrations popular, timeless with a touch world.

Former Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe on CBC Podcast, Leonard Cohen Bell Centre Concert Nov 28.12
http://onboogiestreet.blogspot.com/2012 ... illes.html

Mike Finnerty, host of CBC Montreal Daybreak introduced the first Leonard Cohen Concert at the Bell Centre on Nov 28.
The next day on his radio broadcast, he included a segment with CBC news reporter Jeanette Kelly speaking to several concertgoers at the Bell Centre about the "elegant, personable, growly voiced" Leonard Cohen.

It turns out that the first person Ms Kelly spoke to was Gilles Duceppe, former leader of the Bloc Quebecois party, who sounds like a big Leonard Cohen fan.

The other concertgoers were delightful, one man and a mother daughter duo. (I am thinking these were the best clips from everybody Kelly interviewed)

I extracted the two minte Leonard Cohen section from the CBC Montreal podcast. At the end, Mike Finnerty made an interesting observation about a Gilles Duceppe remark.

Some video from the 28th and later a little from the 29th being uploaded on my you tube channel

A bit difficult to film after being spotted by security and becoming something of a ' marked man' :(

I want to add my thanks to David, too, for your amazing videos, & for risking life & limb to get them, as security threatened - politely, of course - to throw your arse out of there! I cannot tell you enough, how grateful & happy I am that you got the first live performance of Show Me The Place - really excellent work - you have my eternal undying gratitude for that! (Beware, because I might be sending you emails every day - forever - to thank you for it. . .)

My thanking of the day : to the videographers, too. I watched a few and was surprised by the quality and how I had enjoyed to remind some precious moments. This night, I must say that I was in wonder to see all those people with their little white light, arms in the air for almost all the concert only for the pleasure to offers to others a flick of His live, generous souls. But I never thought that I enjoyed the videos so much myself.

Close-ups of the stage gave me an impression of being in a living-room, with oriental carpets and long white curtains in front of some windows, an ambiance of intimity, hospitality. "One by one, the guests arrive, the guests are coming through..."
