Diamonds In the Mine (1979)

Post by John Etherington »

For the uninitiated and those who assume it's always been a cosy night out with Uncle Lenny, here's a timely reminder!

John - have you ever had the opportunity to see him do this in a concert?

Mary - I've seen him sing this a few times with the "I told you this in the days of Vietnam..." verse, but not with this sort of intensity!

This is superb John. Just how I love Leonard. Thanks for finding/sharing.

Of course, current outings are crowd pleasers for all. Myself included. (I said as much in my review of last weekend's Leeds gig) The singalongs during Marianne are just about bearable, but Famous Blue Raincoat is sacrosanct to me. I found the swinging of arms/swaying out of time/singing out of tune annoying. This is a poem where LC is, yet again, laying himself bare. Not singalong with Mitch.

So often in this link ( I've tried to rip it but no luck) does Leonard come across as a poet, rather than a singer.

Comfy nights nights with Uncle Len? I'll take them as long as he provides them. :D

All good things to you and yours.

Robert
