New poster here!
I was lucky enough to catch wind of a free performance of Anjani and Leonard outside of the Indigo/Chapters at Bay and Bloor in Toronto the summer before last. I stood next to a mother and her 8-year-old daughter (apparently, it was the daughter who insisted on coming out to see Leonard - good taste for one so young!)
It was supposed to be more of a tribute to Leonard by the Barenaked Ladies and Ron Sexsmith, followed by some of Anjani's Blue Alert material featuring Leonard. That was wonderful in and of itself, but then - magic.
In what truly seemed impromptu, Leonard, backed by all of the above, sang "So Long, Marianne" - even stumbling over the lyrics in one part, but laughing at himself in that very moment.
And then he did "Hey, that's no way to say goodbye." A thousand people stood silent at the busiest intersection in downtown Toronto as rain began to fall.
Was anyone else on this forum there?
