Leonard Cohen Concert in Ghent

Post by Tony Crosbie »

Here is a report with photographs referring to the first part of Leonard Cohen concert tonight in Ghent.
GHENT - At St. Peter's Square in Ghent, Leonard Cohen Sunday, the start of his new world tour. Cohen was very warmly received and made with old songs and music from his new album Old Ideas for an excellent first half. Thanks to the unique setting, a sultry sunset over the monumental St. Peter's, and got the Canadian with his warm voice from opener Dance Me to the End of Love sold the square, good for 8,000 spectators, completely on his hand. "Thank you with so many from so many different places all to come here," Cohen thanked his audience. "I do not know if I come back to Ghent. But yes, I said that last time and here I am. http://www.nieuwsblad.be/article/detail ... id=1882181
and the Johnny Walker wisdom running high

Here we go, as in 2008, 2009 and 2010: place for reports, links, photos, and setlist.

From official tour blog at http://leonardcohen.tumblr.com/post/292 ... go-friends

“here we go friends”
and just like that, we’re back to work

Russian fans suppose that Rafael Gayol should play in Tarantino's films (between Leonard Cohen World Tours).

Funny choice. I Can't Forget was played in 1988 and 1993 so LC apparently loves it - but it's funny that it was the original Born In Chains, back in 1985. I have mp3 of Born in Chains lyrics (same as in 2010) sung over I Can't Forget melody, on sound check in 1985 (bootleg). It's funny to try it at home:)

the article mentions "suzanne" was played in the first half, but then again HLN is not the best newspaper there is...

same article here, this newspaper is under the same roof as HLN, but pretends to be better: http://www.demorgen.be/dm/nl/1008/Showb ... Gent.dhtml

A real mystery (much bigger than the disappearance of Suzanne):
Where did he put his glasses? Look at the photos and you'll know, what I mean.

Thank you everyone so much for all your links etc. This is so exciting :D

I'm looking forward with great pleasure to see some video of the concert, especially the violin!!

The first half set list has a good mix of old and new......and now for the second half and encores 8)
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me
