ADAM COHEN

ADAM COHEN ANNOUNCED AS SPECIAL GUEST ON FORTHCOMING RUFUS WAINWRIGHT TOUR

Canadian singer songwriter Adam Cohen will appear as special guest on Rufus Wainwright's forthcoming European tour. Teddy Thompson and Krystle Warren will also appear on the bill on selected nights. Adam Cohen released his critically acclaimed third solo album 'Like A Man' late last year and has been touring worldwide since its release. He will release a new single from the album entitled 'Matchbox' to coincide with the tour. The tour will hit 11 UK cities, and 11 European cities.
Says Adam: "Not only is Rufus one of my oldest friends he is also my brother in law, so touring together is like a beautiful travelling family circus. Also joining us is another of our greatest friends Teddy Thompson. Rather than run from the 'sons of' club we decided to embrace it. If Sean, Dweezil or Harper want to join us they're more than welcome! I love playing and being all over Europe. The audiences are so warm and intelligent."

What a wonderful coincidence Jill! Sadly, I can't make any of the UK dates on this tour because of travel & other concert commitments (not LC!) Shame because this would have been a good time to "try out" Rufus live in the knowledge that I would enjoy the opening set even if I didn't like the main act.

Oh well ....

One "son of" Adam overlooks inviting is Elvis.....

That's Elvis Perkins, son of Anthony "Psycho" Perkins.

That'd make for a tempting foursome....musically speaking :D

A "daughters of" featuring Martha Wainwright and Charlotte Gainsbourg might be a good start too.

Martha Wainwright: Rufus has been more a mentor to me than a rival

Musician Martha Wainwright, 36, tells Metro what it's like being the daughter of folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle and sister to singer Rufus Wainwright...

What a nice observation (if a litle skewed in overall accuracy!)

I saw Adam as support for Rufus Wainwright at the Apollo Manchester last night - A shame there wasn't more of Adam and less of Rufus. They both paid homage to their parents, with Adam giving a good renditon of Marianne, with the audience singing along. It was not quite the same as Leonard's encores when the whole audience joined in but fun all the same. Rufus covered songs of both his parents.

The highlight of the evening was when they got together with Rufus' band and all sang a very upbeat version of Everybody Know. I am hoping that someone has recorded this and put it on YouTube. I am just going to have a look now.

Adam said that a new album will be coming in the Spring and a tour too! I saw him last time at the Band on the Wall in Manchester and it was great, a small venue. He is very good with his fans and comes out after the show and chats and signs stuff and has photos.

If you haven't seen him, I would recommend it.

rufus and martha in london - royal festival hall - 6th december, 2019

Post by sebmelmoth2003 »

Rufus & Martha Wainwright's A Not So Silent Night

Feel the holiday spirit at the Wainwright family party, where Rufus and Martha pay tribute to their singer-songwriter mother Kate McGarrigle.

The siblings return to Royal Festival Hall after the first tribute show to McGarrigle was staged here on 12 June 2010, as part of Richard Thompson’s Meltdown festival.

McGarrigle had performed her final concert a year before, in December 2009, in an emotional family Christmas show at Royal Albert Hall with more than 5,000 people in attendance. This show at Royal Festival Hall marks the 10th anniversary of Rufus and Martha's mother's final show.

In a celebration of family, love and music, Rufus, Martha and special guests bring their very own subversive twist of folk glamour to the holiday season.

The profit from this concert goes towards the Kate McGarrigle Fund, supporting sarcoma research, and a music therapy programme for cancer patients to be launched by Martha Wainwright in conjunction with Stand Up To Cancer Canada.

Rufus and Martha, along with many who are working on this show, are donating their services.

Bringing together some of the UK’s finest singers and musicians, the McGarrigle/Wainwright family clan present a one-night-only celebration.

Dan Gillespie Sells, of The Feeling and creator of the West End hit Everybody's Talking About Jamie, is Music Director.

top-price ticket is £695!!
