I would say, skip the biographies, and just listen to his songs. All the rest is just window dressing.

My favorite, to date, is I'm Your Man by Sylvie Simmons - beautifully written & lots of interesting information.

I totally agree with Holydove - Sylvies biography is undoubtedly the best. The Ira Nadel biography ' Various Positions ' is very well written , but finishes in the second half of the nineties. One of the Jim Devlin books , think it's In Every Style of Passion , is also enjoyable and worth a read if you can find a copy second hand. Sylvia also performs Leonard's songs , and very enjoyably too !
