A LOT has changed since I was last there, back in the USSR ! In that same venue, then known as the Palace of Congresses, we enjoyed a wonderful performance of "Giselle" - nobody does classical ballet as well as the Russians do. It cost very little, and there wasn't an empty seat in the house. And not a McDonald's in sight.....ladydi wrote:not much seems to have changed in Russia since I was last there.da2008 wrote:lots of empty seats.

I think during the second set the KGB took Joey's iPhone away...

Well - if so, hopefully they will return it to him after the show.neo wrote:I think during the second set the KGB took Joey's iPhone away...
But - no worries - he was able to embed vital information in earlier transmissions to us, some of which was easy for us to decipher, and the rest is presently being decrypted in a secure location (in the basement off one of the back rooms here at the forum).

One of those "short shows" because of a curfew -
Closing Time sneaks in before the curfew brings tonights show to an early conclusion.
* State Kremlin Palace - Moscow, Russia
A warm farewell and time to run.
* State Kremlin Palace - Moscow, Russia
The coat check is ready and mere moments from becoming a madhouse.

Last one out shut out the lights.
Load out is finished and the crew are heading to the bar to wish Steve Arch a fond farewell.

great concert. it seems like leonard cohen improves his singing. I didn't see "lots of empty seats". There were empty seats on each side but inbetween there're a lot of people (and prices were really high).
beautiful new songs (especially "Born in chains")

Those seats look empty although these might indeed be the ghost people of Moscow .
Glad you loved the concert!
Re: CONCERT REPORT: Moscow, Russia, Oct. 7, 2010
Last side seats look empty, because their owners moved to much more expensive first rows
Have Leonard talked about European concerts in 2011? We haven't heard The Famous Blue Raincoat live (shame on Kremlin!)

yeah. as i said - on both sides (by the side walls, there were empty seats - but as i could see all the balcony and the middle of hall were filled)Those seats look empty
i've never been to a concert in Russia where such unpleasent side-rows where not empty (maybe it's our tradition). And Kremlin - is a big concert hall. So it was filled (to my naive oponion) about 80-85% - i was suprised about it, for not so many russians speak english (i mean - you must understand cohen's lyrics to visit his concerts).
maybe he does it everytime, but in "Waiting for the miracle" he sang not "the judges are severe" but "the critics are severe".
And his final "We'd like to play to you all night, but Kremlin has it's schedule" (not exactly)
and "We heard about your reputation as heavy-drinking nation, so we'd like to drink with you and play a little bit longer, but we really got to go" (something like that)

HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!“No Pictures!!”
The very stern and strict Kremlin house security have decreed very loudly that “there is to be no photos during the show…”
