That is a beauty brightnow! I think that one is a four-stringer? And it comes in five strings as well I think? I'm not exactly sure of the details but I know there are different models.

And - these basses are prized possessions amongst the world of bass players. People send out pleas for leads as to where they can be purchased - and proudly post pictures of beauties that they have been able to secure. Roscoe is a legend in the "bass world." :D :D Not only for these instruments - but as a bass player - as a musician.

If you do a search on E-Bay for "Roscoe Beck" you will see his instruments - and little pieces of his instruments ("neck" etc.) and also his books/tutorials.

I just found a site with the five-stringer - with pics - and raves about it -

Well spotted sturgess and thank you, this is a 4-string (the only one listed on Fender.com at this time) while Roscoe has been playing a 5-string in the concerts (at least the magnificent red one is a 5-string, I'm not sure about the blue one).

On another page at the Fender site that brightnow provides there is a more extended bio of Roscoe. And some Fender videos from the NAMM show in 2008 - featuring Roscoe playing with Greg Koch Trio. And some other stuff about Roscoe. Roscoe's Fender page is here -

And here's a YouTube link to one of the videos - very cool!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) :D

This is not Roscoe Beck's signature 4-string - or 5 -string bass.

But this is Roscoe on the double/standup/string bass!! The contrabbasso.

I had video that I took of Roscoe and his amazing solo at the end of "Who By Fire" from the May 12, 2009 show at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia and I finally uploaded it to YouTube. Another stunning moment for me at that remarkable show!!

Thanks Linda! Every time I watch this, either in person or on video, chills run through my body! Roscoe is such a multi-talented musician....but far beyond that...he has an awesome gift.
