I forgot to mention that when Leonard Cohen was performing Closing Time and people in the audience started throwing their clothes on to the stage, they made Leonard lose his place in the song. He repeated some of the same verses twice and left out other verses. You could tell from his reaction that he clearly lost his place and it was not intentional! That made me sad and angry because I wanted to hear the whole song!

:? :? :?

Roy, I know you were at the concert in Ft Lauderdale, but I also know someone else who was there, and the Closing Time blouse incident did NOT happen at that concert, but at the final one in San Jose. Perhaps you were at both and meant to post this on the San Jose thread. The "shower of polka dots" is very well documented!

Yes, Leonard did get stopped in his tracks BUT, I believe that the rearrangement of the verses immediately after those couple of seconds was very much on purpose and a cute message to us blouse throwers ;-) . He went to a verse towards the end of the song:

"Yeah we're drinking and we're dancing
But there's nothing really happening
And the place is dead as heaven on a Saturday night
And my very close companion
Gets me fumbling, gets me laughing
She's a hundred but she's wearing something tight.

I'm sorry it made you sad and angry, because it sure delighted everyone in the audience AND everyone on stage! :D

I must be mixing my memories of the concert with memories of videos I've watched on Youtube, but there were people who threw their clothes on stage in Fort Lauderdale as well.

Yeah...sure....your credibility is beginning to wane. I'm now curious. Were you at the Ft Lauderdale concert? I KNOW you weren't at San Jose.

I clearly remember at least one clothing item being thrown at the stage during the performance of Closing Time in Fort Lauderdale. If a video ever surfaces on YouTube I will direct you to it. I did attend the concert. Ask Lizzytysh. She met me there.
