Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen kicks off the final leg of his 2009 North American tour on October 17th in Florida. All dates, locations and ticket links are listed below, and we've got pairs of tickets to giveaway to every single show on the tour. For a chance to win two tickets to the show near you, please email BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM with your full name, and an email subject that says "Leonard Cohen" followed by the city. For instance, if you want Madison Square Garden tickets, your email subject should be "Leonard Cohen NYC". Good luck!
*BrooklynVegan is a NYC-centric mostly-music blog that focuses on reporting international music news, live show reviews, pictures, tour dates, gossip, tips, MP3's, videos, and just about anything else a music fan could want. Non-music news finds it's way on to our pages as well, and every post comes with an open exchange of ideas via the public commenting system.

Ticket Giveaway: Leonard Cohen @ HP Pavillion
leonard-cohen2.jpg
Legendary singer-songwriter, poet and novelist Leonard Cohen will be performing at HP Pavillion on November 13. The show comes less than a year after performing his first American concert in fifteen years. Judging by the superb Live in London, recorded at London’s O2 Arena in July 2008 and released in March 2009, Cohen hasn’t lost his edge.

With a career spanning four decades, Cohen is one of the most celebrated song writers of all time. He is generally regarded as second to only Dylan among musicians from the ’60s who are still active. His songs have been covered by hundreds of musicians from all genres, including R.E.M., The Pixies, Willie Nelson, Nick Cave, Elton John and U2.

24 years after it’s release, three versions of Cohen’s “Hallelujah” charted simultaneously in England in December 2008 following performances in both American Idol and Britain’s X Factor (Jeff Buckley’s version at #1, X Factor winner Alexandra Burke at #2 and Cohen’s original at #36).

We’re very excited to announce that we have a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky reader. To enter, leave us your favorite Cohen lyric in the comments (include your email so we can contact you). A winner will be picked at random on November 2.

For the rest of you, tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
MP3s:
Leonard Cohen - “Suzanne”
Leonard Cohen - “Hallelujah” [Live]
Jeff Buckley - “Hallelujah”
