SPECIAL EVENTS TO HONOUR LEONARD COHEN
ON HIS 75TH BIRTHDAY

Leonard Cohen 75th Birthday Gala and Silent Auction
7 P.M. Monday, Sept. 21
Atwater Library Auditorium, 1200 Atwater Ave., Westmount/Montreal

A special guest, David Seaman, is flying in from Statesboro, Georgia for the Gala. He will read his poem, 'Waiting for Barbara,' inspired by "Waiting for Marianne" from Leonard Cohen's "Flowers for Hitler." In addition, we will have poets: Rona Feldman Shefler (a former classmate of Cohen's,) Erica Ruth Kelly, Jessica Mailas, Ehab Lotayef, erica n. white, Paris Elizabeth Sea, Blossom Thom, Ann Weinstein, WESTMOUNT HIGH teacher Ryan Ruddick, Sandra Stephenson, Linda Marics, Marcia Goldberg, Grace Moore, Meredith Darling, Lydia Lockett, Katherine Beeman, Nelly Roffé, Michael Mirolla, Denis Brault, Phyllis Guss & Sandra Sjollema.

All proceeds from the Gala and Silent Auction will support the Leonard Cohen Poet-In-Residence Program at Westmount High(Leonard's old high school.)

The first Leonard Cohen: You're Our Man book launch will be held at:

Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009
Westmount High School Auditorium

Westmount/Montreal, Quebec

Proceeds from this event will support the Foundation for Public Poetry's "Leonard Cohen Poet-In-Residence" program at Westmount High(Cohen's old high school.) This initiative is a collaboration between Westmount High School, the Foundation for Public Poetry, and the Westmount High Alumni Association.

Tickets are $5 and available at the door. Books will be available for sale and signing. Doors open at 7 P.M.

A Calgary book launch of Leonard Cohen You're Our Man, featuring Laurie Fuhr and Tom Wayman and others, will be held on Monday, Sept. 21 at Pages Books on Kensington, 1135 Kensington Road N.W.

New Leonard Cohen-inspired Book

Montreal's Foundation for Public Poetry has published "Leonard Cohen You're Our Man(75 poets reflect on the poetry of Leonard Cohen.) Edited by Jack Locke, the book includes a specially written poem by Margaret Atwood and includes 74 other superb poets from 12 different countries.

The book is a tribute to Leonard on his 75th birthday and is a fundraiser to create a Leonard Cohen Poet-In-Residence program at Leonard's old high school(Westmount High.) Leonard and his management have approved of this initiative.

The poems are all inspired by Leonard or his poetry. The book's cover has been donated by Monica Hellstrom of New York, and the book's printing has been donated by Friesens Corporation of Altona, Manitoba, Canada.
