Wybe and Willy,

After a third attempt (the first 2 times, I had to 'click here' on the bottom of the page and it got stuck about 2/3 of the way through - enjoyed the music anyway while waiting to see if it would get unstuck), I was able to view your photostream in its entirety. Your photos are totally lovely! Hearing 'The Darkness' and 'Do I Have To Dance All Night' was such a perfect accompaniment! Thank you both for sharing this wonderful memory with us!

Best regards,
Mary

Hi Andrea,Eija ,Jarkko, Maarten and to allthe other Cohenites ,sorry but I could not come to the meeting after the show. The security lady put me on seat A3-45 instead of A3-44  so Ken had a very dry seat ,but I got wet down to the bones (no,I did not care about :) ,I had one of the very best seat , one empty seat in front of me....wonderful sight at Leonard and all members of his band ,and the sound at this beautiful place was just UNIQUE !
And last but not least, Eija thanks a thousand times for your wonderful photos and thanks for the short chat in the night before the show, you are a very kind and warmhearted person! Special thanks to you Eija for photos with Ed on it (very kind man!)...now I`m sure that he gave my "welcome card" to Leonard. Have to say that I always gave a handmade card for Leonard to one of the staff members, and in Febr.09 I have got a big Concert photo sent by Mr.R. Kory.

Well now, for me it is ...closing time... go back ,go back to the world... ;-)
and please forgive me my english stammering, I`m still somewhere lost in the clouds and english is not my mothertongue as you can see (he,he !)
Love and peace to all of you ,Susanne ;-)

I have just re-read this thread from beginning to end and am re-living wonderful memories of Venice and the fabulous show. Not to mention the unexpected bonus soundcheck performance beforehand!! It was amazing. Loved all the photos and the slideshow and the recordings of the new song.. and remembering Leonard when he got drowned out by the bells at the soundcheck and how he laughed.... Having thought this would be my last show, I have now just booked flights to New York and am also planning to go to Barcelona. So excited!!

I love the extra refinements and quirks that Leonard is putting into the shows of the 2009 tour. Kilmainham in Dublin will always be my favourite as it was such a dream come true for me to be at the concert of the man I thought I'd never ever get to see. There was such a magic and sense of expectation in the air - as I'm sure there was for everyone's first concert in 2008. I have to say I did miss "A Thousand Kisses Deep" though - from the Dublin shows I knew at what stage of the setlist to expect it and was ready with the camera to video it. But having said that I was delighted to hear "Heart with No Companion" in its place! :)

Many thanks to Jarkko, Wijbe and Relate for posting the lovely photos/slideshow/unpublished music. And many thanks Andrea for your organisation. It was lovely to meet you briefly after the show, it was a pity we didn't get to meet up with you before that. Once again, thanks all, and I am looking forward to continuing my odyssey in Barcelona and at the Chelsea Hotel and hopefully meeting a lot of you again. Trish

Wonderful video dharma!!! The beautiful peaceful, bells pealing in St. Mark's Square at the beginning ... a view of the concert hall ... and this song takes off like a rocket and there is no looking back. Leonard's singing angels are very animated at 2:23 and OMG - the back and forth between Javier at 4:52. Haha! Leonard sings "And I thank you for those items that you sent me" and touches Javier on the shoulder and those looks on Javier's face are just delightful!!

Along with all that - we have skipping at the end! And a big happy smile from Sharon Robinson at the end as she gives the cut off! Wonderful performance.

Love this video. Thanks for putting this together dharma! :D

Dharma,
Thank you for uploading this little gem! Your other videos made me re-listen to (and watch) the Barbican conversation with Glass again which is quite a nice conversation (although I don't like Glass in general...)

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned before but when Leonard visited Piazza San Marco on the day before the concert something quite strange took place. During Leonard's visit to the Cafe Florian (see Jarkko's slideshow) the resident band started to play a certain tune. Whether or not it was in Leonard's honour I don't know and I don't think Jarkko knows either, but that didn't stop Leonard from giving an impromptu perfomance. It was a pity that nobody thought to record it.

It certainly wasn't one of Leonard's songs so it would have been quiet a rarity for the completists amongst us.
The name of the song? Ahh!! that'll cost you a drink.
