As mentioned by someone in one of the other threads, Leonard played a slightly different set for the Sydney 29th show (to all the previous Aus shows). "Sisters of Mercy" was substituted for "Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye" in the first set and "Closing Time" replaced "Democracy" in the encores.

Setlist for Sydney Entertainment Centre 28.01.09

* * * * *
Set 1
1. Dance Me to the End of Love
2. The Future
3. Ain't No Cure for Love
4. Bird on the Wire
5. Everybody Knows
6. In My Secret Life
7. Who By Fire
8. Chelsea Hotel #2
9. Sisters Of Mercy
10. Anthem

Set 2
11. Tower of Song
12. Suzanne
13. The Gypsy's Wife
14. The Partisan
15. Boogie Street
16. Hallelujah
17. I'm Your Man
18. A Thousand Kisses Deep [recitation]
19. Take This Waltz

Encore 1
20. So Long Marianne
21. First We Take Manhattan

Encore 2
22. Famous Blue Raincoat
23. If It Be Your Will
24. Closing Time

Encore 3
25. I Tried to Leave You
26. Wither Thou Goest

Also ... not sure if anyone else noticed, but last night's rendition of "I Tried To Leave You" was shortened -- Leonard skipped an entire verse. It looked to me like he was keen to wrap the show up -- maybe because his voice was starting to get a little strained (after two consecutive nights of performance).

I'll third that -- Sisters Of Mercy was a wonderful addition. "Hey" was left in.

Anyone remember than where Sisters Of Mercy was in the set list? I assume Hey, That's No Way retained its usual place.

Irene, I do hope you won't miss out. Get well very, very soon.

Hi Irene Teresa,

I really hope you were able to make the winery concert and that you are feeling much much better. You've had quite a week and sometimes that lowers ones resistance.

Take care of yourself,
Diana

Hello,

Can someone please confirm that the setlist of the second Sydney concert (Jan 29) included both "Hey, That's..." and "Sisters Of Mercy"?
And "Closing Time" and "Democracy" were both played, right?

So I guess he played the same set as the one Andrew posted above for the 31st show (thanks for that, Andrew).

Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Thanks,
Maarten

no big changes to the set overall . sisters of mercy again and closing time.

sorry I sound confusing.Ill give you one guess why .

Some changes in the set list at the Bowral Centenial Vinyards show last night.
Sisters Of Mercy and Closing Time were played.
But I'm not sure if they were as well as the previous set list or if he dropped some songs.
I think he played all the other songs on the set list as well.
Does anyone know for sure?

I have been trying to work that out too, Wink. He definitely did Sisters of Mercy and Hey and Democracy and Closing Time. I wasn't taking notes but I really think all the other songs were played. I can't work out what was dropped, if anything.

Just to clear up any confusion as to the set lists for the two winery concerts LC played in the past couple of days. Both were actually the same song selection in the same order (although I think Irene is correct in saying that it did look as though the band was thinking about leaving Leonard to do his monologue straight after I'm Your Man, but after a short chat between LC and Roscoe, they launched into Democracy after all).

From my notes, here's the set list for the two winery shows:

Setlist for Bimbadgen Estate (Hunter Valley 31.01.09) and Centennial Vineyards (Bowral 01.02.09)

* * * * *
Set 1
1. Dance Me to the End of Love
2. The Future
3. Ain't No Cure for Love
4. Bird on the Wire
5. Everybody Knows
6. In My Secret Life
7. Who By Fire
8. Chelsea Hotel #2
9. Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye
10. Sisters Of Mercy
11. Anthem

Set 2
12. Tower of Song
13. Suzanne
14. The Gypsy's Wife
15. The Partisan
16. Boogie Street
17. Hallelujah
18. I'm Your Man
19. Democracy
20. A Thousand Kisses Deep [recitation]
21. Take This Waltz

Encore 1
22. So Long Marianne
23. First We Take Manhattan

Encore 2
24. Famous Blue Raincoat
25. If It Be Your Will
26. Closing Time

Encore 3
27. I Tried to Leave You
28. Wither Thou Goest

As to why Leonard decided to play extra songs for these two concerts ... I can only speculate. But judging from his comments through both evenings, he seemed to think it was significant that people had driven so far to watch him play, so maybe he thought to reward us by playing a longer show.

Thanks, dce. You don't know how much we obsessive record keepers appreciate these clarifications and updates. Thanks to all who go to the trouble of posting set lists. I know it isn't easy to write all these songs on your hand during the concert.
