Brighton tickets not on sale until 11.00 today
Re: Brighton tickets not on sale until 11.00 today
apparently there is/was a strike at brighton centre which means the date had not been confirmed by them. fingers crossed, rather annoyingly have already boosted ticketmasters profits by hanging on the line from 9a.m. while they kept asking me to reselect my tickets as no tickets were available in the 'best available ' ticket range, finally rescued by a very nice man who gave the explanation. It worked out well for me in the end last time thanks to the foirum and jondi and i got my manchester ticket, i don't want to be greedy but it would be wondeful to see L.C again, and brighton is much easier than manchester for me. but why not Oxford, its easy to get to from everywhere really!!

Re: Brighton tickets not on sale until 11.00 today
Same old story...got a friend to queque up (fourth in the queque). Only gets offered seats to the side...so nothing doing for me. Meanwhile, nothing great on the online agencies. If anyone happened to double-up on the very best seats (central, first few rows), please keep me in mind ! (e-mail: midheaven@compuserve.com) - or if you did get great seats for yourself, perhaps you could let me know the best route to go down, when the second show goes on sale.

Re: Brighton tickets not on sale until 11.00 today
i got a side seat near the front. £65 (+ ticketmaster's extras). that'll have to do for me. saw him at glasto and will be at the big chill, so anything else is a huge bonus after 16 years in the wilderness. the £75 seats were not available (at least in the quantity of 1).
Re: Brighton tickets not on sale until 11.00 today
After a lot of frustration and wasted effort I finally managed to get through to Ticketmaster/Brighton Centre and bought a couple of side balcony, Row B seats. I must have spent about £10 on 'phone calls on top of the ticket prices, booking charge, postage charge. It'll be worth it though as I live only a 20 minute drive away from Brighton and the venue is a halfway house between the Manchester Opera House and the 02. (I was right at the very, very back last night and was surprised at how intimate it was.) One can only ponder and hope that he will radically alter the set for the latter leg of the tour.
Re: Brighton tickets not on sale until 11.00 today
That's one-nil to you, jojio. While the rest of the world were buying tickets online for Brighton, I was being told on the phone by the ticketmaster box office (after 11 am) that Brighton had been postponed and tickets were not going on sale after all!
Re: Brighton tickets not on sale until 11.00 today
When Cohen has been the soundtrack to so many lives, it is hard not to obsess, after so many years thinking we'd never hear him again. I've been fortunate enough to see him, this time, in Manchester, Glastonbury, Bruges and, on Wednesday in Edinburgh. Each night better than the last. (Edinburgh made slightly ludicrous by the huge numbers of heavy-handed security. Who did they think was coming on ... Jay Z? The Sex Pistols? Miss Winehouse?)
Returning to Sussex imagine the surprise to see the posting that tickets for the Brighton Centre would be for sale this morning.
Decisions, decisions. The lottery of Ticketmaster? Or a row of human beings selling tickets in the box office in the very building in which he was due to perform?
I have nothing against the principle of Ticketmaster. It should be clean and effective and decisive. But what it is, is a lottery ... a high-pressure lottery, gameshow, where you play the game and take what you are offered.
Surely far better to go to the venue, speak to a pleasant person whose job it is to sell seats, look at a seat plan, and choose your seat?
So I arrive at the charmless, sick-stained pavement outside the Brighton Centre at about 8.15am, with tickets due to go on sale at 9am. Enter the building at 9am. Informed by an exceedingly bad tempered human being that because he and his colleagues had been on strike until yesterday, that the tickets will not be on sale until 11am.
OK, fair enough, I've waited years ... I can wait another two hours but "does this mean Ticketmaster will start selling at 9am while I have to wait until 11am?" "The tickets go on sale at 11am," says the charmless human being. "Yes but does that mean Ticketmaster are selling them now," said I struggling for some remaining charm. "The tickets go on sale at 11am," he repeats. "Yes but does that mean........" I repeat. Until finally he concedes Ticketmaster can't start selling until he, the charmless master of the keys to the Brighton Centre, says so.
Fast forward to 11am. Well 11.02am when I was finally allowed to approach a human being whose jobs it is to sell tickets in the very building I am standing in. "Two tickets in the front row, please."
"I can offer you row M ....oh no they've gone .....I have two in ......oh no they've gone too....I've got two in row FF, you'll have to make up your mind" says the human being whose job it is to sell tickets in the very building I am standing in.
Hey guess what ................all the five human beings, whose job it is to..............are doing is tuning in to Ticketmaster and offering whatever the Ticketmaster lottery gameshow offers them. And this is a box office and this is their job? And they've been on strike?
I have seen The Future .....and it's murder. I telephone my lovely wife, me steaming with rage, her remaining calm ...........five minutes later she has secured decent tickets ........on line, from home. And those five charmless human beings are still sitting sourly at their desks and probably about to go on strike again. I'd still far rather buy my tickets from a human being, I'd sooner queue for hours, talk to people, hold a ticket in my hand as a badge of achievement, a book of longing.
It's not old fashioned,it's all part of it, it's decent and real .... and it's their chosen job to sell them.

Re: Brighton tickets not on sale until 11.00 today
Got 3rd row very central via Ticketmaster. It initially offered me 7th row right out at the side, but I kept trying until it offered something better. I find you can usually get good tickets if you're persistent and/or patient, eg I got 4th row central for Dublin a week before the gig (presumably when they released the tickets they had been trying to sell via Ticket Exchange) and 2nd row for Manchester two days before that gig (via seetickets.com). It's a real pain, but I find if you try Ticketmaster/See a couple of times a day (particularly in the 10 days leading up to the date of the gig) you can usually get something pretty good.

Re: Brighton tickets not on sale until 11.00 today
Here are the crooks at Ticketmaster already SELLING tickets for the second Brighton Concert under their "Get Me In" scam at double the price: http://www.allgigs.co.uk/view/event/140 ... _2008.html To which I must add that they haven't even got the tickets yet, because they're not available! Doesn't it just make you want to vomit.

I've been tryingh to find out if Leonard Cohen might be playing at Brighton Conferene centre on the 29th. The Conference Centre website shows that the Kooks are playing there on the 29th - tickets went on sale some time ago. So the above link in the above post seems like a blatant con.

Hi Jojio,
It appears that the Kooks are definately playing at The Brighton Centre on 29th, and I notice that Leonard has been removed from the getmein listing (even though he's still listed on another scam site). Therefore, the concert on 28th is most likely Leonard's last appearance in England on the Fall Tour. Since Christmas will be approaching, perhaps he could repeat history by singing "Silent Night" at Brighton. I can imagine the Webb Sisters accompanying him on that (maybe singing a verse or two on their own).
All good things, John E

Ticketmaster are still (or again) selling some tickets for Brighton - both horribly expensive hospitality package tickets and some normal tickets on one balcony. Have they just released a few more?
