My guess is that it will be a posthumous AWARD of some kind...!

I've got a new announcement schedule today. The complete press release will be made public in the beginning of September, but we have permission to post some guidelines here in mid-August as promised!
(Some details cannot be confirmed during the holiday season, that's why the announcement has to wait a bit).
Another chance for all of us to practice patience!

... the guidelines posted on August 7 on the next page of this thread!!

Must be something more lasting in time than a single release date... Fingers crossed (what a pleasant feeling)!

It's a great shame that a Nobel Prize can't be awarded posthumously. I think Leonard was a far stronger candidate that Bob Dylan.

He's in such a great company now, with Lev Tolstoy and Jack Kerouac, to name just two of dozens of brilliant and highly influential authors. Don't forget his own words about Mount Everest ;-)

It's beginning to sound more and more like a tribute concert, or perhaps a series of tribute concerts. These always take time to arrange.

I'm very glad to hear that whatever the announcement, this site will continue to be up and running.

As for the special news, I hope that it includes the opening of at least some of the sealed boxes at Thomas Fisher Library. Anything else I'll consider a bonus, but I trust it'll be done with the highest standards, and worthy of a tribute to Leonard.

Yes indeed, series more likely. I hope not - much as I loved the band it was because they were supporting Leonard so well. Seeing them without LC would just be too sad. "Hamlet" without the Prince...
Could Adam Cohen be involved? Personally I have always preferred Leonard singing LC songs.

I, too, definitely prefer Leonard doing Leonard! No one else is HIM. Simple as that. Good thing we have lots of CDs et cetera.

What I hope for is that they will do a CD of his songs that didn't make it on any of the other CDs. There must be quite a few.

The orchestral music doesn't move me because it is minus his voice.

I hope they don't trot out a hologram ...

Maybe they will use his voice from tape - or even video footage?

Elvis did some concerts recently ...

Worrying thought Hartmut
But no, I trust Jarkko not to sound excited about anything in poor taste!
