My goodness, how the year has flown by! Congratulations to you both - how wonderful! We just celebrated the one-year milestone for Em as well. It's hard to believe she hadn't even arrived yet when I went to Seattle and Red Rocks. What a year! Nolan is fantastically happy that she will be far past the colicky phase for the next round of concerts!!! I wonder how many of us will meet again in the coming months - all of us I hope! Oh yes, we've just had family photos done and I'll post one as soon as I get them.

Hugs!

June 2 is approaching and I want to send greetings to all those who attempted to attend the June 2 2009 concert in Red Rocks
that turned into Wet Rocks, The Concert that Never was as it was postponed due to bad weather.
Although I didn't get to stay for the concert on the 4th, I have such fond memories of my 24 hour adventure.
I met some great people and am grateful to Mary B for her encouragement for me to spontaneously go for it.
In that act of spontaneity I ended up doing a lot more travel for other concerts which I likely never would have done..
Cheers to Wet Rocks!

WET ROCKS BLUES

Postby Greg Ross on Tue May 31, 2011 4:15 am

Wet Rocks I’ve been thinking, it’s been two years now
Since I flew to Colorado to see Lenny take his bow
But the weather turned against us and the show could not go on
So we drowned our sorrows in wine and talked of Lenny’s songs

The only consolation was the friendships made that time
A bunch of lonesome heroes, each with a story so fine
So I winged it back to Perth on the other side of the world
Then Lenny came back down-under and romance with Ann unfurled.

Everything happens for a reason, I’ve become convinced of that
So while I’m sorry I didn't see Lenny at Wet Rocks Colorado
It wasn't meant to be, but in the future there was still magic in the hat
New friends and lovely memories and one more wonderful show.

Leslie,

What a great journey it's been - not just the concerts, but all the friends we've made along the way. Life's too short - take those chances (as George would say ;-) )

Dear Mary, Leslie, Kelsey, Greg, Denise...and all the others, what a night that was. So much gloom and doom in the lobby of the Holiday Inn. Then decisions being made. I am thrilled that my friend Dave and I were able to return from Estes Park on the 4th for the rescheduled concert (and get a refund for the 2nd ;-) ), but so sorry that many of you weren't able to stay. Greg...I met you for less than 5 minutes but feel like I've known you forever! Kelsey...love you to bits and wish you were my daughter! Leslie and Mary...you've become lifelong friends. Denise...we met for the first time at the Beacon, but your spiritual side has touched mine deeply.

It wasn't just us, of course. MarieM finally reached my mobile as I was 30 minutes from Denver to tell me the concert was postponed, and we never did connect in Colorado as she had to leave. The band and crew had their last concert party, but then had to stay on till the 4th. Many of their family and friends had to leave.

The end result was a magical evening on the 4th....cool, with the breeze swirling the mist onstage....surrounded by the towering red rocks.

An evening to remember.

Doing Speed With Lenny & The Band

Postby Greg Ross on Tue Aug 09, 2011 3:38 pm

Hah! Bet that got your attention!

A bit of fun, after eight months, I finally got to try out my V8 engined XR8 Ford Falcon, (yeah, an Aussie muscle car), under controlled conditions, on a private road, of course!! ... would I lie to you???
Anyhow, when I looked at the short video I'd taken, guess who was singing on the car stereo system!
Yep, you guessed it and what's more, it was Lenny and Sharon gettin' down and steamy, singing Boogie Street (Live in London), a great match, you see, the car was boogie ... ing! Here's the clip:

PS: If you like this, you might just like the Audi R8 clip with Ann and I ripping up the Autobahn a coupla weeks back.

Re: Reworking Lenny's classic Story of Isaac on the piano

Postby Greg Ross on Wed Aug 24, 2011 4:06 pm

Salutations fellow Wet Rocks mates,

I sat down at the piano yesterday, for the first time in about nine months - I haven't really been home for a long while, anyhow, for some reason - well, Australia is treating refugee children abominably and I am ashamed - Leonard's "Story of Isaac" seemed the right song and please, dear friends, I make no pretensions whatsoever to knowing what I'm doing, but here's my attempt.

Rusty???? I think not - it's so rich and beautifully done. But, I was curious, what was it that was playing on the screen in front of you while you were entertaining us? Nice to see you again. Pity you and Ann couldn't make it to Hydra.

Re: Meanwhile, Down Under!

Postby Greg Ross on Sat Jan 21, 2012 12:15 pm

Ann and I talked about shooting this pic just before she left to fly home, but we didn't have time. So this afternoon, when I got home from work, I set the shot up and took it for her. It's not quite mirror image ... try setting the camera up on a ladder, then scrambling down, then getting "posed" in the chair ... in 10 second! But, it does the trick, besides, she loves it so much, she's insisted I post it here ... my tribute to Lenny! Cheers
