BJS dedicates this song to his son Eddy who died of heroin overdose.

Live forever. A haunting song with some nice guitar playing, Kush. Looks like a good place to visit.

Tony - I was not aware of the Cumberland Caverns until I stumbled on to the BJS link...it is now on my list of places to visit. 32 miles of underground passageways and caves to explore and catch a music performance or two while you are at it !

Eddy Shaver was a very talented guitarist who played in his father's band....some links below showcase his talent - Live at Farm Aid 1994

solo Eddy Shaver plays the blues...

p.s. Necessary Evil is a masterpiece ! I am quite addicted to it.

Bob Dylan covers Old Five and Dimers

"I'm listening to Billy Joe Shaver
And I'm reading James Joyce
Some people they tell me
I've got the blood of the land in my voice"

- Bob Dylan

My favorite version though is by Waylon Jennings as most of my favorite versions usually are ...pity he did not sing any of LC songs.

Hello Kush. I was unaware of the magnitude of the 'Trail of Tears' until I read your post and discovered more about the caves. The music and the location have opened up a whole new area for me to discover. Thanks.

Hi Tony - it was new to me as well. I have been to a couple of caverns - Natural Bridge Caverns in Texas and Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota. Both highly recommended but I am yet to visit Carlsbad Caverns NP in New Mexico and Mammoth Cave NP in Kentucky (longest known cave system) which are better known. But as far as I know none of them host music concerts :)

This is an old theme but is inspiring as BJS references his own struggle coming to terms with losing his wife (to cancer) and his son a year later.

Money breeds war as long as there is a man alive

High rollers crap out every time
Rollin' soldiers bones like loaded dice
War is a beast that makes every mother cry
